  1. Kevin Brown: WILL WE SEE THE SPLITTER?!?!?! Man, I am not impressed by a splitter that looks like it hangs at the top of the zone. I'm sorry, I'm just not. A better hitter could hit that thing 450 feet.
  2. I hate to join the Cano alarmist club, but I think I am.
  3. If there's a catcher out there that can hit, he's probably starting somewhere.
  4. Jays pitching coach looks like a founding member of the Village People.
  5. I'd love to see the Jays pitching coach or manager get run.
  6. I like our chances against Kikuchi today.
  7. That’s too bad. I was close to not renewing last year but when I went to cancel, they gave a deal for like a dollar per month or something ridiculous. Connolly was someone who I read a lot though. It’s too bad The Athletic is trending in the wrong direction. I’m sure the Yankees and Dodgers beat writers are safe, though.
  8. 7 innings, only one strikeout. But pitched well enough to win, tough luck loss.
  9. I don't think we see Tate this year.
  10. Ideally Mountcastle never comes back (traded). And as much as I've kind of liked Frazier, trade him, too.
  11. Yeah, because they spend it on their roster. Their system is largely dog ****, partially because they trade away their talent but I also don't think they're particularly good at scouting, drafting and developing. I mean, that's the beauty here that we get to see in our division. A cash-strapped team like Tampa is beating the brakes off everyone because they've invested well in their front office, analytics and development. They should be rewarded for that. We have too, to a lesser degree. This is a monumentally boneheaded thing that Manfred would try to do and it's ridiculous. Not just because it hurts us, but because it will stifle innovation across the sport. It will suppress things like the next generation of tools like Rapsodo and TrackMan and whatever other things people are using to look at the game in new ways. Tech might be the one thing that MLB has a leg up on compared to all the other leagues and they want to cap spending money on it...how ****ing dumb is Manfred? Punishing teams for thinking outside the box, being creative and being able to compete with teams that have unlimited resources is ****ing stupid.
  12. He's surpassing any/all expectations I've had. He's had a lot of key moments already this year.
  13. Okay, that's fair. Voth has set a low bar, we agree there. But there's still some room between the low bar that Voth has set and then being a legit contributor, closer to the Cano/Bautista/Baker/Coulombe group.
  14. Right here. Although I don't think he should be released. I think they should try to trade him, if they can trade him. In regards to the vertigo, maybe this has played a part in his terrible season, maybe it hasn't. If it has and he didn't disclose it, that's selfish. I understand not wanting to go on the IL and wanting to keep playing but if he was trying to play through vertigo symptoms, that's not a good idea on a number of levels. If it's true that the vertigo is a recent development, that's probably a better scenario for him. But vertigo or not, he chases too many pitches out of the zone and has terrible plate discipline.
  15. Who, specifically? Not trying to be a smartass, I just don't really see legit options there outside of maybe Reed Garrett who's had a great year for Norfolk. I'm not sold on Darwinzon, Vespi, etc.
