  1. I kind of thought so, too. We've had some starts this season where guys have gotten off to a rocky beginning and then been able to right the ship and get through 5 or 6. Kremer, G-Rod, I think maybe Bradish had a start like that. I thought he could figure it out yesterday but he was terrible throughout.
  2. Yes. Nothing looked crisp. Couldn't locate any of his pitches. Nothing was working.
  3. Gunnar's bWAR is at an even 0.0 despite the .363 OBP. I'm confident that number will go up but I figured he'd be around .3 or so.
  4. Hope this is the start of a big heater for him.
  5. I missed the grand slam. Did Palmer remind everyone that he never gave one up? Always the one redeeming part of the Orioles giving up a granny with Palmer in the booth.
  6. We were due for a clunker and Kluber was due for a get right game.
  7. I get the temptation but if it's not broken, no need to fix it. I mean, if he's really producing at this level come late June and we're all pretty sure that this is for real and not a heater like he was on last summer, fine. But leave the guy where he is, IMO. I also like having him on base for when the order turns over.
  8. Nope, no optical drive on the computer (MacBook Pro). Got a Playstation but it's been unplugged for years, we moved last year and I'm not even sure where it is.
  9. I have it on DVD, someone gave me a 5 or 6 DVD box set of Cal Ripken games a long time ago for a Christmas present. Don't have a DVD player anymore though.
  10. I tried to find Angelos' speech to see if it's as bad as remembered. Initial search doesn't look promising. Although I did find this website. I'm not sure who's responsible for it, but it's really, really nice. Some really cool photos and videos. And Cal's 2131 speech is here in its entirety. https://view.ceros.com/mlb/2131/p/1
  11. I wouldn't be surprised if he were a little more media friendly at the time. But that was over 20 years ago, anything that he did back then good or bad, as far as I'm concerned is water under a bridge that's barely visible. My dad likes to tell a story about how we were at 2,131, Angelos was giving his speech at the ceremony after the game and people booed him. I don't remember that part, but my dad swears that Angelos paused for a second and glared at the crowd real quick with a "***** you" look, he likes to say. My dad hates Angelos.
  12. This is about where I am. Trying to enjoy it while I can because while he's not his father, he sure seems to be cut from the same cloth in certain regards. I do appreciate that he's made himself more available to the media than his father ever had, even though he's not very media savvy, tends to ramble in his answers and talks in circles. That being said, it's certainly a small amount of praise to give and isn't where the rubber meets the road.
  13. Sure it is. Eve Rosenbaum probably gets her extensions done every couple months or so and knows where to go to get them done. So to her credit, there are people working on extensions every day.
  14. Correct. I wouldn't really comp the Reynolds re-up to anything Mullins related. While I like Mullins, I think it'll probably be okay to let him walk at the end of his deal here. It's more an indictment on not extending someone like Adley, Gunnar, G-Rod, etc.
  15. You're right, he did say those things. He also promised to "open up the books" to the members of the media. I wouldn't really put too much stock into what Angelos says when it comes to spending money. Or anything, really.
  16. Pirates get out to a hot start and they're re-upping managers and extending star players, throwing around money like a rapper at a strip club. Meanwhile, we're over here wondering when Adley's gonna leave.
  17. Imagine a world where we can also fix Perez and have him and Cano, assuming Cano keeps throwing this well.
  18. Is there a handicap for the 3 mph difference in sinkers?
  19. Start sending box seats to the justices, baby! Give 'em Rutschman jerseys!
  20. I thought the apparent suggestion that the Orioles locked him into one arm angle in order for him to get some consistency was a kudos to their development.
  21. How would that have been a dig at the organization?
  22. If he's for real, he really solidifies the back end of the bullpen. Same with Coulombe. Baker/Coulombe and Cano are a nice bridge to Bautista. If Perez gets back on track, that'd be great. Cano's changeup has to be one of the filthiest in the majors.
  23. I was curious too but couldn't find it. Cora couldn't STFU in one case because, IIRC, the catcher set up low and away and their pitcher missed completely diagonal across the zone. The pitch still hit the frame but with the way the catcher reacted, Cora went ballistic because it HAD to be a ball. IMO, there's no way to tell from the dugout whether a pitch is inside or outside. High/low? Sure, I can buy that. But from the dugout perspective I don't think they can tell if a pitch hit a corner. Anyway, all of that is to say Cora is awful and I hope the umpire scorecard this morning is an A+.
