  1. Yep, teams have black holes, but Mountcastle and Hays are quickly becoming black holes, too. Not to the extent that Odor is, but they're becoming liabilities right before our very eyes. I'm not about to go around and look at all the contending teams and compare and contrast who's better and worse than Odor/Mountcastle/Hays but all I know is that these three are automatic outs right now. Odor has been an automatic out all year, Mountcastle and Hays have been terrible for extended periods of time. On top of that, I don't have to tell you (or anyone else on here) that we'd be a lot better off if we were in Cleveland's division. That's not a complaint, btw, but I would say it's somewhat easier for Cleveland to trot Myles Straw out there than it is for us to trot Odor out there.
  2. Speaking strictly for myself, I look at a loss last night where they looked completely flat and wonder if this is where the wheels start to fall off. We can debate on what counts as a small sample size. I mean, the Nats back in 2019 went on a tear, won the WS and have sucked ever since. Granted, they've lost some key players from that team. But I think most of us can agree that this team has played above it's talent level for almost the entire season. The bullpen, for the most part, has been great but is that sustainable? Look at guys like Kremer and Voth, are they for real? It's fair to wonder if it can carry over to next year, but I think it's also fair to wonder if it can carry through all 162 games. It's not being pessimistic, although I think some of the oldtimers here would call me a pessimist...but, IMO, it's well within reason to wonder if, after a couple losses, if the wheels are coming off. And like I said earlier, even if the wheels DO come off in September, it's been a fantastic season. EDIT: It's been a fantastic season as long as we can finish ahead of Boston. **** the Red Sox.
  3. Nah, it's not over yet. I mean, I agree that Gunnar should have been up last week but bigger gaps have been closed down in an equal or lesser amount of time. Respectively, there's a lot of baseball left to be played. Now...I'm fully prepared for this team to still finish above .500 and not make the playoffs. Even then, I'm still thrilled with this season. Even if they don't finish above .500, this season has still been awesome.
  4. He's a jolly fat guy who can crank a homer every so often. I'm into it.
  5. Gunnar at third, Mateo at SS, Urias at 2nd and don't f'ing touch it.
  6. Since it's safe to say he can't cross the 130 AB threshold, I'm hoping he's in the lineup every day in some capacity. If they bring him up to sit him more than they're playing him, then this move was stupid. He has to be able to provide more offense than Odor/Nevin and anyone else.
  7. Here's hoping he can mash right away. Looking forward to watching tonight and for the rest of the season. I'm assuming this means he's on the OD roster to start 2023, no weird ass rosterbation manipulation right?
  8. He's in the lineup tonight?!??!? HE'S IN THE LINEUP TONIGHT!??!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!!
  9. CJ Abrams needs to eat a few burgers.
  10. Gotta see how Henderson does but things are looking up for sure. It’s impressive to see 2-3 picks from any draft reach the majors like brother @interlopersaid. The fact that Rutschman and Henderson have been ranked so high is incredible. I do believe no two players from one single draft class have been ranked this high. Waiting for this thread to be hijacked about the drafts he didn’t mail in 3…2…1…..
  11. Just to piss everyone off. Mission accomplished.
  12. I like my neighbors 5 year old kid with a wiffle ball bat over Nevin.
  13. ZOOOOOOOOOMFFFFFGGGGZZZZ GuNnAr iS HeRe!!!!!
  14. Eh, I think you’re putting too much stock into those quotes Froberto Duran. I think he’d like to be more aggressive. But we don’t know what the market will look like between now and then. I hope he is aggressive but I can’t say I’ll be surprised if this is another underwhelming offseason. Just because he said something doesn’t make it so.
  15. That's true. He last played August 21st which looks like he came in the 9th as a defensive replacement if I'm reading this correctly. He only played in August 6 times overall. I don't understand why he's here if he's not playing.
  16. I know I've been complaining about the complaining about the Gunnar Henderson situation, but it's a bit perplexing. I get it if they want to keep him under 130 at bats, that's fine, so wait a day or two after the imaginary date, whathaveyou, etc. That was last week. It doesn't seem like they're going to call him up now, yesterday would have been the perfect day to do it. If they call him up between now and 9/1, well, I'm not sure what the strategy of waiting until the last minute is but whatever, at least he'd be up. But it's looking like you guys might have to settle in for another month of Odor/Nevin. I saw somewhere on here that Elias said that the callups would be one pitcher and one hitter, but that doesn't automatically mean the hitter is Henderson.
  17. Yeah, but it was one of those valentine's with the stale heart shaped candy that no one likes. So screw him.
  18. I believe there's a very good chance that token offers are made, we come back with a Lyles type or two, a better backup than Chirinos, various bullpen pieces and call it a day. Getting Means back, plus G-Rod, plus Henderson and maybe Cowser will be tried to sold as having upgraded enough. Mind you, that's not what I'm rooting for but I can easily see this outcome.
  19. C'mon, SG. C'moooooooooooooon, SG! Don't you know better by now? I think you're saying that you don't expect them to sit on their hands while you know full well that they could EASILY sit on their hands and only upgrade from within, thus giving you a bunch of material to rage about this offseason and into next season. You can never be wrong if you're always right. Right?
  20. Drungo knows I like giving him a hard time from time to time and plays along. He's a good sport and one of my favorite people on here.
  21. DON'T YOU GO TELLING THE OH THAT A HOT MINOR LEAGUE START IS MINISCULE AND MEANS VERY LITTLE, FROBBY!! Stop being so logical all the time, damn.
