  1. I support this idea, but there's still questions if the bat will play. But if the benchmark is Ryan Mountcastle, it's a low bar to hurdle.
  2. Is this another Gunnar thread, in disguise?!?!? What's next, some original thoughts on Nevin and Odor?
  3. If we can handle them like we did the 2014 Tigers, sign me up.
  4. It's easy to get carried away with a hot start. I want to see how he handles Aberdeen. And, quite frankly, I want to see how he handles his first failure in the minors...cold streak, etc. Glad to see he's handled Delmarva but, IMO, a good college bat (I know he didn't have a great season this year at Florida but the brother @Jammer7gave some insight as to why that might be) drafted in the 2nd round should be able to mash at that level.
  5. Did you all actually read this? Verducci can't POSSIBLY believe something this silly, can he? Can he?!?!?
  6. I still think Rodriguez gets ROY because that's been the narrative all season but Rutschman is making it close. If he finishes with a higher OPS and OPS+, he might be able to edge out Rodriguez.
  7. Because he sits Adley on Sundays and puts Bryan Baker in high leverage situations!!!!!!
  8. WhErE iS GuNnAr?!?!? You guys are ridiculous. I think you’ve built Henderson up to be something like prime A-Rod and if he struggles the tiniest bit and we don’t get a wild card spot you’re gonna lose your minds. It’s getting a bit silly at this point.
  9. If they traded him this offseason I don't think I'd really mind (even though I agree it would be a sell-low move), but I can also see an argument for keeping him to see if they can tease out a better performance. Per @DrungoHazewood's post, there's some reasoning to think he's not as bad as he's been. And it's not as if he's not a talented guy, there's a lot of raw skill and ability to like there. He has a giant offseason ahead of him. I wouldn't write him off just yet but I certainly understand the frustration with him.
  10. 100% this. It's been a great month. It's been a FANTASTIC season, especially given what everyone's projections and predictions were coming in. I would pin some of the recent losses on the offense being inconsistent, too. I liked Jorge Lopez as much as anyone else did but I think we sold high on him. People are acting like we traded peak Mariano Rivera, I don't think that's the case at all. This, too. Some of these fans are acting like Yankees/Sox fans with the way they're upset about taking 2/3 from a team like the Astros. I had no idea that trying to get the last wildcard spot was such a stressful ordeal. People on here, people on twitter are losing their minds even though this team has won the last three series and haven't missed a beat since trading Mancini and Lopez. I've said it before, I'll say it again here. If this team wins a World Series in 5 games, there are going to be people that are pissed that they didn't do it in 4.
  11. Guess Gunnar wasn’t coming up this past week after all.
  12. Oh well. I was thinking we’d be lucky to get one in this series. We got two and held them to one run in 18 innings. Not gonna freak out about the wheels coming off in the 8th inning of the last game after two of our underperforming relievers have let this game get away. Voth had another strong start, the starting pitching lately has been great overall. Can’t win em all. But taking 2/3 every series will put you in a good spot. On to Cleveland after a well deserved off day tomorrow. Chin up, snowflakes.
  13. Agreed. I dunno why Odor was in. This is looking like a loss but taking 2/3 from the Astros is nothing to be upset about.
  14. The Jorge Lopez who’s got a 1.5 Whip so far in Minnesota? I think we sold high on him. Doesn’t change the fact that Baker has been bad lately.
  15. Yeah, I don’t believe this is a viable strategy. It worked for Palmer, that’s true. But Kremer ain’t Palmer and this ain’t the 70s. You mean to tell me that Kremer would rather not strike guys out and leave things to chance? No way.
