  1. This is what I’ve said. Let other teams draft and make the mistakes on pitching.
  2. I do like the three man booth with McDonald and Roberts.
  3. He won't give an answer that you'd want to hear, though. He'll talk in vague generalities that will sound like specifics.
  4. Yeah, no, everyone that we have in the infield must be in the 99th percentile on Statcast for everything. Jackson "Quck Draw" Holliday? Get outta here.
  5. I hate frustrating losses as much as anyone else, but I think people forget how good this team has been despite the obstacles they've had to endure.
  6. He's gotten some hits lately, just nothing over the fence. It's hard to say that someone with a .929 OPS is having a sophomore slump. But maybe he is, it's hard to tell. We were looking at a 40+ homer pace, easy...now he might not make it to 35. Still a very good season, but he's dropped off the MVP level that he was performing at to start the season.
  7. Asking people to have faith/patience here lately is a tall order.
  8. Haven't you heard? Hyde is atrocious and needs to go...now. We keep winning in spite of him, somehow.
  9. How can this be? We've got a rookie 3rd baseman who can't buy a hit and is a butcher with the glove, our real third baseman is out with a broken hand, our #2 starter is on the shelf with the ever mysterious lat strain, two of our top starting pitchers are out with Tommy John surgeries, one of our best relievers MIGHT be ready to come back in September, our amazing closer from last year won't be back until next year, one of our bullpen pickups at the deadline has an ERA for us that's approaching Michael Jordan's career PPG average, the closer we paid 13 million for this year doesn't look like he's our closer anymore and has stretches where he looks downright awful, one of our other relievers is on his 7th team and that's not counting his stops in Japan and the KBO, we've got a backup catcher who got hit in the face with a pitch but outperformed our All-Star catcher for the month of July, and we've got a rookie second baseman who looks Ruthian at the plate since his return from the minors but apparently has a noodle for an arm. Home plate umpires consistently screw us left and right on calls out of the zone, they're clearly out to get us. We've got a starting pitcher who hadn't been in the majors since 2017, was released by the Samsung Lions of the KBO last August and is sporting a 3.39 ERA, yet we're proclaiming that he's turning into a pumpkin at the first sign of trouble. Our GM absolutely refuses to draft pitching in the high rounds and we've got a manager who is simply obsessed with matchups and doesn't always pull the right string. But we're tied with the Yankees at 70-49 for the best record in baseball. Man, I love it when a plan comes together.
  10. Kimbrel isn't going anywhere, to the dismay of some of you guys. To @Frobby's point, he's capable of going on stretches where he's dominant and he looks like he's in his prime. Right before the ASB, a lot of people here were saying that he was deserving of an All-Star berth. What I don't like about how he seemingly needs to be handled at this point in his career. Too many days off and he comes in and is ineffective. Can't pitch 3 days in a row, or 3 games out of 4 because that's too much. But he can't sit for too long because he can't find the zone if he's been off for too many days. It's almost a vicious circle of sorts. And now that I've tagged Frobby in this post, he'll probably tell me that my perception is incorrect. Anyway, I am glad it's only a one year deal.
  11. It worked for Holliday. And I don't think it had anything to do with his psyche...what appeared to have worked is making some adjustments to his swing. So what are we saying here? That everyone who starts their career 0-15 is a candidate to be sent down? Or are we refusing to admit that we're impatient? For fans of a team that hasn't won a World Series since 1983, I would have thought that patience is something that would have been beaten into everyone by now whether they like it or not.
  12. If 0-35 with 22 k’s breaks him, it was never meant to be. Keep sending him out there, he’ll be fine.
  13. We need Mayo!! We need Mayo!!! Urias sucks! Mayo: 0-15 Mayo’s awful, get him out of here, he can’t hit! And I was told that his defense wasn’t great but I wasn’t paying attention but now that I’ve seen him make an error I can’t stand it! Where’s Urias?!?
  14. So it’s okay to not hold runners well if the pitcher is overall better. Bautista >>Kimbrel so we’ll let it slide. Burnes is a Cy Young candidate, I don’t be believe anyone’s once mentioned his issue holding runners while he’s been here. All of a sudden, it’s an issue cause it’s late in the season, they haven’t been playing particularly great and everyone’s on edge.
  15. And yet the team is somehow surviving.
  16. Well he wasn’t as hyped as Holliday. So he has a shorter leash, understandably.
  17. Man, Mayo didn’t even get the same amount of courtesy that Holliday did!
