  1. Mullins looks damn good. Whistled that ball back up the middle like it was nothing.
  2. Amazed that Zimmermann has 45 pitches through three innings.
  3. Garceau with the dig on Palmer... "I know how modest you are..."
  4. Mantle hit .071 off Palmer in 15 plate appearances.
  5. You can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink. I think Hyde knows the game well. We've just got a group of guys who aren't great. In fairness to them, they probably haven't seen that situation since the third day of ST. You can probably catch any team looking stupid on the right day.
  6. Zimmermann isn't all that great but this Richards guy sucks donkey nuts.
  7. Yeah, well, he's been saying that since ST. It's not going to improve with the cast of clowns we have.
  8. Zimmermann has made some good pitches this first inning, he's made some bad ones. And now they just botched a rundown. Picked Devers off first base and the runner on third broke for home and made it. Maybe a blessing in disguise to a certain degree, Zimmermann gets off the hook after 23 pitches.
  9. You guys are slipping. No game thread? For shame.
  10. If Valaika and Urias are Titanic deck chairs (let's be real here, if this is the Titanic, it sunk long ago) then I guess Jahmai Jones and Rylan Bannon are the band playing as the ship goes down. Doesn't mean I don't think they should get a shot, they absolutely should...but I don't see how they're significantly better than Valaika and Urias. It's not "control," but an employer has the right to distance themselves from an employee if they feel that employee is not representing the company in the best light. Employers have rights too, let's not forget. But let's not let that get in the way of "mah freedumbs!!!"
  11. Eh, you don't have to be knowledgable to be a fan. I mean, look at me.
  12. A recent fav. I try not to judge, but the internet makes it hard not to. I can definitely see that guy rubbing someone the wrong way and then wondering why someone had a problem with him. Maybe it's the hipster beard and the glasses. Who knows.
  13. You don't get walked out like that without having done something pretty stupid. And it sounds like he was warned not to do it before. His tweets didn't show anything really inflammatory, unless you consider his haughtiness offensive.
  14. That was my initial reaction, but after the whole draft strategy unfolded I thought it was a decent pick. But I've been calling him a bust for the past few months. We can re-hash the whole degree thing here but that was a big red flag for me, I think it showed where his priorities were. Myocarditis was unfortunate, I'm not going to blame him for that.
  15. Whatever the reason is, it's not good. Or else they wouldn't be so tight-lipped about it. Mancini having cancer sucked but they didn't dare try to hide that from anyone. And it's hard to keep a secret in sports these days. It's hard to keep a secret in any aspect of public life these days. Whatever it is surrounding Kjerstad certainly isn't good. I don't believe for a second that the Orioles FO doesn't know what's going on....that would be practically impossible, IMO. So they're not saying what it is...which means it's probably something Kjerstand and/or the Orioles are not comfortable discussing. I said it before, I'll say it again. I'm assuming loss of passion for the game and doesn't want to play anymore or serious mental health issues. I'm not sure what else it could be, but if he's not suiting up somewhere by halfway through the summer I think it's probably safe to chalk this up as a disaster of a pick. Not just because we lost a first rounder, but how well did Elias and company do their research on this kid?
  16. I don't disagree with the notion that good catching helps pitching, but let's be real here...velocity, command, spin rate and overall pitch quality is what makes the difference for development of pitchers. A good catcher isn't going to suddenly elevate a subpar pitcher to being better than league average.
  17. This isn't a record, this is trivia. A record is something that people actually care about like...most career home runs, lowest ERA in a season, most stolen bases in a season, consecutive games played, etc. No one ever cared about what team has struck out 13+ times for consecutive games. Sure, I guess it's a "record" of sorts but it's an arbitrary record with arbitrary parameters. Now if you want to have a conversation about bat-to-ball skills and OBP skills that are lacking in this lineup, that's a better conversation to have.
