  1. Sad to say but we deserve to lose this game. Mountcastle's blunder, Valdez being late to cover....we're beating ourselves.
  2. Galvis' throw was accurate but he had to have been halfway out there to get that throw from Mountcastle.
  3. I think it depends on a few things but you might be right in certain cases. But I think anything that sweeps low and away is about as hard as it gets.
  4. I watched that interview. Good to see that he thinks we've got two solid sleepers here.
  5. It's going to come down to his command. And he's got good stuff. I'm not sure if he doesn't have command or if he tries to nibble. I feel like there's a lot of upside for him if he can reach his potential.
  6. The only way I'd really feel better about this Yankees series is if Means goes out tonight and replicates (or comes close to) what he did in his first start. 6 innings, 2 runs, something like that.
  7. We just witnessed a player with a serious health issue not hide it and make a comeback. And Mancini is probably the face of the Orioles right now, Kjerstad is a guy who, outside of some diehard Orioles fans and big baseball fans who are really into the draft and prospects, no one really knows about. Or really cares about. If it's a serious health issue that needs to be covered up, it must be...super serious. In a day and age where nothing is a secret, the fact that they're keeping this a secret is odd. Things aren't adding up and something smells very fishy here. If it was due to myocarditis, I think they'd just come out and say that....the fact that he had that issue isn't a secret and it wouldn't be hard for them to simply explain that he's working his way back from that. That would be a plausible reason and one that everyone would understand. I'm betting on either some sort of depression or lost the desire to play the game or a combination of both. Like I said, something is fishy...and if what Tony said is true, that's a big, big concern.
  8. Preach on man. Orioles about to get shut out for a second night in a row, there's not much else fun to talk about right now. I'd be curious to see the success rate of any draft pick that goes a year without playing in the minors. Now Covid certainly threw a wrench into things but the fact that Kjerstad wasn't in the alternate site last year wasn't good. And I'm on the record as saying the alternate site wasn't the equivalent to real games but at least it was SOMETHING. No ST and we don't know if he's reporting anywhere soon. It's not looking good.
  9. We're getting shut out two nights in a row.
  10. I agree, he stands to be a good pickup for them. Will be interesting to see what they do with him.
  11. Where are they gonna put him? I guess as a backup INF he's alright but they've got LeMahieu at 2nd, Gleyber at SS. Urshela at 3rd. Odor doesn't make a whole lot of sense unless he's a backup infielder which, at this point in his career, he just might be.
  12. I agree. He's got some alright stuff...and we've trotted out some guys with worse stuff in recent years. That's not a ringing endorsement but Lopez was good. I just don't think he's got what it takes to be a starter who can go 5+. Two trips through the order, that's probably what he's good for. Chop that up anyway you want, either as an opener or long man. There could be some value here.
  13. To answer your question... Exactly. When Armstrong came in, the game was still in reach. I think Lopez was gassed, but I could have seen letting him get out of it by himself. I didn't necessarily hate the move to bring in a reliever, just not the reliever who hadn't had any work in the past week.
  14. Lopez looked pretty good last night before the 5th. I agree with @BohKnowsBmore, his command took a nosedive in the 5th and I'm not sure why that was...does he not have the stamina to go more than 4 innings? If so, he belongs as a long man in the pen, maybe a spot starter or an opener.
  15. I get the feeling that Trout could probably steal bases if he wanted to, he just doesn't want to ding himself up. I also get the feeling that MLB and certain publications want the "next face of baseball" to be someone who appeals to a more urban segment of the population. Tatis, with the dreads, the flash and the fact that he's a minority covers those bases. I hate to say it, but I believe there's an agenda to be had. Trout, for all his greatness, is boring. He doesn't want endorsements, he doesn't draw attention to himself. Even Manfred a few years ago was frustrated that Trout didn't do anything to promote himself and the game.
  16. Dude always gets hurt. I like Tatis Jr. but for the past two years there's been a giant hype train about how he's the "next face of baseball," whatever that means. Um, no. Trout is still playing at a very high level. And Tatis can't stay on the field. Went down last night with a shoulder separation after a swing and a miss.
  17. That was a pasting I was expecting in the opening series against Boston. Doesn't get any easier tonite with Cole on the mound. But one thing I like about Hyde's teams is that they usually bounce back strong.
  18. I'm not sure who was available and who wasn't. But you don't put a kid out there, especially a Rule 5 fringe guy like Sceroler, out there with the bases loaded against Judge. You gotta put the kid in a situation to succeed.
  19. Lopez ain't all that young. I'm not arguing about whether or not he should have been pulled or not. I don't mind going to a reliever in that situation...all relievers have to come into a sticky situation sooner or later. But why go to the guy that hasn't pitched in a week? That makes no sense. And Judge did what he did, I can't even get mad at it. It was a terrible pitch.
