  1. It was definitely an exaggeration, in my 20's I could have a good night and feel pretty okay by the afternoon the following day. The recovery time gets much longer as I get older, but I'm also a lightweight and enjoy the occasional drink now and then at this point in my life.
  2. Could be that it takes half a week to get over a hangover now haha.
  3. Yeah, I rarely drink, I was more of a social drinker when I was a young man, but in my old age, if I have a drink at dinner once a month, that's a good month.
  4. Soju is fantastic but in the US they treat it like fine liquor. In South Korea it's their version of Wild Irish Rose, it's dirt cheap.
  5. Cease's numbers have been in decline for 3 straight years and if his best pitch is gone, its pitch value fell off of the table last year, he's not nearly a Cy candidate. There is risk involved, I'd rather hedge it with more control and younger guys who came up and did not get embarrassed in their first stint in the MLB. They are both very talented kids.
  6. Yeah but, neither have any of our prospects.
  7. 23 and 24-year-olds with 1 year of service time that project to be top half of the rotation starters are really valuable.
  8. I'd be using our prospects to try to get something done with Seattle, either Woo or Miller. The cost would be more than Cease and justifiably so.
  9. Blurb from The Athletic this morning on Cease. Rosenthal: Rangers face uncertainty in free agency, plus Yankees’ payroll, White Sox’s options for Cease - The Athletic New White Sox general manager Chris Getz is telling clubs he likely will wait to move on right-hander Dylan Cease until after the top free-agent starting pitchers sign, according to major-league sources briefed on the discussions. Getz could act sooner if gets an offer to his liking, perhaps from a team such as the Orioles or Reds, who are expected to refrain from the top of the free-agent market. But the advantage of waiting is obvious: The urgency of certain teams only will increase if they miss out on Yamamoto, Blake Snell and Co. Some clubs face such an acute shortage, they might be in on Cease even if they sign a top free agent. The Dodgers, for example, need multiple starters. The Cardinals, sources say, remain interested in Cease even after signing Sonny Gray, Kyle Gibson and Lance Lynn. It would be uncharacteristic of the Reds and Orioles to jump the market, and their appetite for Cease is unlikely to diminish if the White Sox wait. Cease, entering his age-28 season, is under club control for two more years, one more than fellow trade candidates Corbin Burnes, Tyler Glasnow and Shane Bieber. His combined salary in arbitration over the next two seasons likely will be in the $25 million range. Glasnow, entering his age-30 season, will earn $25 million alone in 2024.
  10. You're talking about 2 Boras clients, and you're also asking for something to happen that has never happened in 30 years of him representing baseball players and then blaming it on Angelos and Elias.
  11. 1 year 13M. I'm pretty sure the Mets aren't interested in shedding payroll. This is a nice flyer for them, he's not that old and if he can bounce back and put a nice season together he puts himself in a position for a decent payday. He needs to stay healthy, though.
  12. The Mets would hang the phone up at that offer.
  13. Only one problem with that, Boras has never signed a client up for a long-term deal before they reached two years of service time. Ever. In 30 years as an agent.
  14. I have no doubt they had interest, I also had no doubt Philly was going to pony up and keep him there. They love him.
  15. Hopefully, he has a good enough spring to break camp and get another shot at locking something down in the OF. I dogged him while he was on the team, it was brutal to watch, but I do think he's going to be an everyday player.
  16. I mean, but there really sort of is, if that were the case there would be teams with 5 number 1s and even the biggest spenders can't do that. There are a lot of things that can be hypothetically true but would not translate in the real world.
  17. It just seems really low, I get he was awful in very limited time in the MLB but he was pretty darn good in AAA and isn't exactly an aging player. I'd be fairly shocked if he was a sub .730 OPS for a season let alone sub .700.
  18. Absolutely, the question was is there a limit, and I was just saying yes, there is. If it's 1 more pitcher that will put us over the top then that is something well within reach, if we want 5 number 1-2 starters with 3+ years of control, it's much less likely.
  19. It depends on how many legitimate prospects you are willing to trade. There is always a limit whether it's in prospect capital or in 9 figure contracts.
  20. They are really down on Cowser. I think most of that list looks pretty fair.
  21. The other half of the responses to any criticism of the team this off-season will be they didn't spend enough money.
  22. Considering they averaged about 24k fans per game and this applies to the upper level only, with around 20k seats in a stadium that holds 48.5k, I suppose they are thinking 300 bucks plus concessions for every game is better than an empty seat all season long.
  23. Except, he was in fact worth 2.6 wins. Now if you want to say that Fangraphs is wrong, then they're wrong for everyone. Gibson had a 4.13 FIP and xFIP. He had value last year.
