  1. I think you've made it difficult. You paired everyone up who plays the same position except for Mayo and Basallo, which makes the choice pretty unnecessary. Had you put Mayo vs. Norby then it would have been more intuitive.
  2. Cowser did walk 16% of the time, so that helps some and his BABIP was .390 which I think will be hard to sustain.
  3. Keep in mind that Mayo is all of 21 years old, hit 29 HRs, and walked 15% of the time in AA/AAA.
  4. Westburg put up a 1.1 fWAR of which nearly all of it was tied to his defense. I'd bet in the same amount of games Ortiz would have done better, he's a much better defensive player and he's shown he can hit in AAA. If the leash were longer in 2023 I believe he would have outshined Westburg.
  5. Ohtani said the O's had great leadership and were a great team. A 400-page thread about him signing with the O's is imminent. Also, Snell talks like he's just taken 4 huge bong hits. Congrats to Gunnar, well deserved.
  6. Apparently, this was the least-watched World Series ever.
  7. If I cared enough to do the work, I'm sure I could find more than a handful or 10.
  8. You've been here long enough to know exactly what I'm talking about. The entire off-season is spent making speculative posts, the fact that this is 3 pages is dumb enough in itself. We love to take stories about nothing and run with them for weeks.
  9. He then became a pretty strict platoon player who faded badly at the end of the season. I wouldn't expect '24 to resemble '23.
  10. Sig could tweet he wasn't interested in leaving the O's and there would still be another 30 pages coming about how the O's denied him the chance and he was probably lying.
  11. Is that in all markets? I don't see MASN in NY on DirectTV stream.
  12. Well, sure, it could, but if I were a betting man, I'd wager an awful lot of money that it doesn't. I agree that they don't need to be .800 OPS guys to be successful, I also believe some of them are going to bust, another thing I'd bet an awful lot of money on, again, if I were a betting man.
  13. There were 6 guys in the entire league who hit 40 or more HR's and 10 in total with an OPS of .900 or greater. 4 players did both, you have a high bar.
  14. He was basically the same guy in Japan for 10 years. Not sure he has psychological issues unless commanding the fastball and his off-speed pitches are a psychological thing.
  15. Makes sense, I don't see either of them near .800 OPS next year, I think it's a lot harder to do than we all appreciate.
  16. Good luck to him, what a disaster they have going on over there, but he was the bench coach this year, so I'm sure he's aware. Preller goes through managers like a hot knife through butter.
  17. Maybe it's just me, but Wells didn't look to be in great shape. I commented many times this season that he looked quite heavy, especially as the season went on.
  18. If Arizona makes it to the series, it will probably be one of the lower viewed World Series in some time, I'd guess.
  19. Garcia is making the league minimum and is worth 5 fWAR. O'Hearn is making 1.4M and was worth 1.4 fWAR. I'd much prefer the former.
  20. Wonder if the Cardinals are glad they traded Adolis Garcia for cash considerations.
  21. 217 million dollar payrolls buys some nice toys.
  22. If they don't plan on playing guys like Ortiz and Norby, they have to trade them. They are going to both be MLB players and are getting to the age where you start to do them a disservice by keeping them in the minors with nothing left to prove. Ortiz would be a top 50 prospect who is 26 next year and Norby will be 24. They should either give them both a legitimate shot or trade them.
