  1. I'd trade Westburg. I think Cowser has a higher ceiling, despite looking like absolute trash at the ML level during his stint with the big team. I think Ortiz could replace him on the team and be just as valuable.
  2. When my girlfriend (Now my wife) and I were separated for work for a while in the 90's we used AIM as our main communication. That was back when cellphone bills would result in the thousands for making calls. Times, they have a changed.
  3. I'd still prefer to kick the tires on Burnes for a year.
  4. I agree, I do think he's an everyday player and will be nice piece, I don't think he's going to be a 4 win player, and that's okay. It wouldn't shock me if his slugging % is higher than I've projected. He's a good problem to have.
  5. .255/.320/.425. Westburg had a BABIP of .336 and yet didn't really hit that well. His 1.1 fWAR was mostly tied to his defense this year. I expect he will be a ~2 win player next year.
  6. Getz did say at the winter meetings he doesn't like his team and that there isn't a player on his roster that is untouchable. There are more compelling players for me on the CWS than Cease if we're giving up real talent. "I don't like our team." Those were the words of White Sox general manager Chris Getz during last week's GM Meetings. Getz also said there are no "untouchables" on Chicago's roster this offseason. MLB Trade Rumors and Signings
  7. I'd rather kick the tires on a year of Burnes. Would likely cost less than Cease.
  8. When you say the team "missed the boat on Adley and maybe even Gunnar on this", you are in fact implying that something could have happened but did not. You don't get to say others have reading comprehension issues when you make a statement like this. "Missing the boat" literally means a missed opportunity, people saying there is no evidence of an opportunity do not have reading comprehension issues.
  9. This is part of the problem. When players like Acuna fire their agents because they've signed bad deals and guys like Boras are advising his clients to not sign what he labels "snuff contracts". I don't think you're going to see things like you have in ATL right now, in the near future.
  10. Shame the rumor isn't Conway from the Carlyle Group and Leonsis. Bill and Ted would own the O's.
  11. Bring them up 1 year at a time to maximize the extra picks.
  12. I chose Beavers and Norby. I just don't see Norby being out of the top 10 yet, and I don't see him from 1-6.
  13. Stroman hasn't thrown 140IP+ since 2021. 138 and 136 in the past two years. I'd rather have Wells for 100IP and save 22M dollars a year. His statcast data is pretty awful and he doesn't strike people out. If the argument is that it's the only 2-year deal, I understand that, but I still wouldn't be interested in him for that price.
  14. I think they both have good years but I think Bradish will have the better season.
  15. Totally agree with this. Westburg isn't a front-liner for a lot of teams looking to trade real talent.
  16. I honestly don't know how he's going to project out. Currently, through his statcast data, 2022 is the outlier. 2021 was much closer to 2023. He strikes a bunch of guys out but his K rate has been trending down for 3 straight years. He's likely going to be a solid pitcher, but I don't think he's going to be an Ace and I'd hate for the org to pay Ace prices for him.
  17. This same argument should be said with all the bats in MiL waiting too. The odds are overwhelming against everyone panning out.
  18. Lynn's FIP with the Dodgers was 6.16 and his K rate plummeted. There is a big difference between 2022 and 2023 Cease.
  19. We need good pitchers, we don't need a LH staff just because of the wall. Good pitching from either side of the plate will neutralize the wall or the short trip to the flag court.
  20. I'm not particularly interested in Cease, I'm not a huge fan of a lot of his statcast numbers. If the target is Robert Jr. then I'd rather just pay what he costs and not double down on what Cease would cost in addition.
  21. Who says it's more likely Basallo ends up at 1B? You or talent evaluators?
  22. I understand what you're saying but the angst people are showing aren't between anyone but Mayo and Basallo because neither can replace the other like every other scenario you put together.
