  1. Any word on why he was removed in the 7th inning tonight? He has really been heating up, and the defense has pretty much been elite from the jump- hope its not injury related.
  2. my guess for today: C Adley DH Gunnar LF Hays RF OHearn 1B Mountcastle CF Mullins 3B Westburg 2B Frazier SS Mateo and if Mounty isnt ready - O'Hearn at 1B and Cowser in RF (batting 9th). If Cowser doesnt play today its going to be slim pickins for him this week. Looks like The Angels will have 3 lefties and we're also lined up to face Sale in Boston.
  3. Yes- it was a mistype on my part. 1 WIN.. it was also meant to be an exaggeration but he was phenomenal last night.
  4. His WAR shouldve gone up about a run from his defense last night alone.
  5. Yes he did sit against a righty or two. He also had his thumb issue and another issue of being banged up which I cant remember which caused him to miss several, not getting "benched" - those 33 games are an indication of those injuries as well, not just Westburg taking his playing time. Since he came back from his thumb he has started every game vs righties. My original statement was that the indication is that he will start pretty much every day (certainly there may be one or two sprinkled in) vs righties.
  6. There is no indication that Frazier will not play pretty much every day against righties. Just like there was a strong indication that this would be the reality when we signed him for 8 million. They didnt bring him in to be a part time guy, just like they didnt bring Gibson in not to be in the rotation.
  7. I'm Guessing Hicks and Wells. Then when Means is ready if he is they'll figure out another pitcher.
  8. Not really related, but reading the post above took me down a few minute rabbit hole of looking up some of our trades and prospects from 2012-2017. I had forgot about Tobias Myers, even though I remember people being upset we traded him so young. He obviously did not workout for Tampa but interestingly - Tampa traded him to Cleveland in 2021 for Junior Caminero who is now rated as the #6 prospect in all of baseball and the #2 SS behind Jackson Holiday. Tampa's ability to target prospects and develop them is pretty remarkable. Sorry for the tangent.
  9. Gunnar had an off day not too long ago. Adley has been DH'ing nearly every game vs lefties recently. I think they are probably decently rested. Plus off day tomorrow. I dont see the need to rest either of them. Adley will most likely catch today given the night game last night which means McCann could DH. Could also see them DH'ing Gunnar to keep Mateo in there. But I bet they would like to keep McCann's hot bat in there right now especially vs LHP. I could see something like this: C- Adley 1B- Mounty SS- Gunnar LF- Hays DH- McCann CF- Mullins 2B- Westburg 3B- Urias RF- McKenna We also have Kikuchi after the off day (another lefty), so that will likely be another McCann C and Adley DH game. He's had a lot of time off catching over the last month and its worked out well because McCann has been a beast at the plate and behind the plate.
  10. I mean... we were shutout for a complete 9 inning game with 3 hits, all singles and all in different innings. We had one guy reach scoring position the entire game. I'm not saying I agree with the people that said we have no shot against elite playoff pitching because we have roughed up some aces this year. But tonight, any run from the opposition and we lose. Thankfully our pitching was fantastic as well! We stole one and now can steal the series!
  11. Orioles have lost 3/4 like every team in baseball has at some point. One of those 3 was against the defending champs in a game that the Orioles dominated for 90% of the game. Certainly the team doesnt look great right now, but nobody wins 162 games. The team is good, and should continue to be good. After Seattle the schedule lightens up.
  12. Not being wow'ed by Gunnar Henderson or Grayson Rodriguez is a very bad take.
  13. I wonder if they will have Ced play two rehab games then call him up Monday or give him more time? Will be very nice to have him back.
  14. This time last year pretty much everyone here was clamoring for Gunnar and couldnt believe why he wasnt called up yet. I think we all were excited and hoping for him to be called up first week of August (or earlier) with how he was producing at Norfolk, but it ended up being August 31. Gunnar seems to be an elite SS right now both in the field and at the plate. I dont see them moving him off that. Holliday is far more likely next year but I guess anything is possible. Westburg is playing really well (0.9 WAR in 27 games) and seems to be hitting a stride here for us. Hopefully he starts to get full time starting duties between 2B and 3B.
  15. How much would it cost to extend him 2 or 3 years?
  16. Did you stay at a holiday inn express last night?
  17. Yea my biggest question mark when constructing my Hyde prediction was DH'ing Adley or Gunnar. Its been a while since theyve given Gunnar a day off and I could see them doing it with probably the toughest lefty in the league on the mound. Just wish it wasnt the same day that Mounty, McCann, Mateo, Urias are all playing.
  18. My prediction for today: LF Hays DH Adley RF Santander 1B Mountcastle CF Hicks 3B Urias C McCann 2B Westburg SS Mateo
  19. I think this is the first time all of those 4 young guys have played together right?
  20. Yea I hear you, I do too. Inheriting runners is hard. And you need great relievers to keep those from scoring. But we've seen plenty of clean innings turn to not clean with our middle relief this year as well. I think we all agree we need 2 additional relievers, or a starter + reliever which pushes someone to the pen this deadline
  21. Not saying this is right or wrong, but in this scenario lets say Cano gets out of the 6th and even pitches a clean 7th. Orioles up 2. Who pitches the 8th? You'd be in the same boat. Its less a "when to pitch Cano" problem and more a "we just dont have more than 2 reliable guys on a night to night basis" problem. You've got Coulombe and Baker for the 8th and if they blow it then, this thread is going nuts about "HOW COULDNT YOU SAVE CANO FOR THE 8th!!!"
  22. I can think of at least two hit balls where Colton has been robbed defensively. I know that happens to everyone, but two hits in his sample size change a lot statistically. There was also the ball in Minnesota where he was ruled out running down the line "out of the base line" which should've been another hit. With 23 at bats, 2-3 outs turned hits or vice versa have a pretty significant impact.
  23. Mayo is pretty much untouchable I would think. But if he were traded it wouldnt be for anything less than a young, multi year controlled, TOR level starter. He should be a consensus top 25 prospect end of season. Not sure that match exists.. Mitch Keller? Eury Perez? Spencer Strider? Zac Gallen? Dont think any of those teams would have any interest in trading those type of guys either.
  24. I think we are agreeing. I dont think Hicks is a 10+ million guy. I was just saying that it was a possibility if a team did think that.
