  1. Don't you mean Feathers Right up?
  2. I say we lean into it and start using feather the same way Chang uses his name on Community: Just as a fill-in for absurd, nonsensical puns. Get with the feathers, Featherstein. We're taking this thing all the way to Feathersville! Feathers fly forever! Etc.
  3. Should we lean into it and make it a thing? Is that the 2023 rallying cry?
  4. Honestly, I can see some eleven year old playing video games and saying something like that: "I'm going to feather up all over you." LOL. It's just stupid. And it's really stupid because they guy who said it is worth almost half a billion dollars.
  5. Because it's nonsensical. First, Orioles aren't a bird of prey. Secondly, what in the hell does "feather up" mean? It just sounds like something an 11 year old would say thinking they're being clever.
  6. What an absolutely stupid and inane comment. And this dude is a multi-millionaire many times over.
  7. His career really fell apart after a pretty rapid rise through the MiL ranks.
  8. Those were two of our best five players last year.
  9. Collecting HBP is largely a repeatable "skill."
  10. This is one of the reasons I appreciate these write-ups so much. I've been pretty high on Rom as he's climbed the system, but it's solely based on performance and stats. Getting Tony's insight on why his stuff won't play, despite the K #s he's amassed, is needed to get a full picture of the prospect. That said, I still think he has a chance to be a ML starter, and obviously I hope he takes whatever developmental step he needs to in order to get there.
  11. An "A" is 90+. It does not imply perfection. At least on my scale.
  12. I honestly think in the cumulative it's hard to give him anything other than an "A." This team was in a historically bad position when he took over. And within three years was competing for the playoffs, had the highest ranked farm system, and had a future as bright as any in baseball. I think anyone on this board would have signed in blood in Nov. 18 for this franchise to be in the shape it is now.
  13. I think the answer is: It depends on who they're replacing. Westburg taking at-bats from Odor is likely to make us better. Very, very likely imo. Ortiz taking at-bats from Mateo and Urias is not so likely. In fact, probably makes us worse. Same logic applies to Cowser over Hays/Santander.
  14. Yeah, this article was more an exercise in how much money can we spend, rather than in how good could we make the roster.
  15. I get that there's a lot of belief that he'll be a + 2B, and then probably in diminishing degrees belief he'll be a + SS or 3B. I'm just saying there are degrees to that belief, and it isn't a universal belief, and even if it was it isn't proof of an outcome.
  16. I think this is fairly pedantic but point granted. But yeah, their contractual discrepancies is largely of the product of years. If you wanted to say Lyles is 1/10 and Taillon is 1/15, I'd say that's about right. The issue is when it becomes 1/10 vs 4/56, and I say that is wildly incongruous.
  17. Yeah, Taillon was a bit better. It would not have manifested itself in multiple wins. Lyles was worth 1 WAR and Taillon was worth 1.3. They were quite similar last year.
  18. They pitched an almost identical amount of innings and Lyles was worth 1 WAR and Taillon was worth 1.3. Taillon was better, but they were not dissimilar.
  19. Buddy, you're pretty antagonistic today. Do you know what universal means? It doesn't mean I "don't care" about your citations. It means everyone is in agreement. Not everyone is in agreement about Westburg's defensive abilities and his defensive future. That's indisputable.
  20. The shift is going to effect second basemen as well- perhaps even more so than SS. We can ask Tony, but I don't think Tony sees a plus defensive second baseman and specifically mentioned today a possible move to first base.
