  1. The panic is crazy. Of course we need to upgrade for a WS run, that’s the prudent thing to do. But the panic is just that, emotional thinking causing lapse in judgement. We are 4th in all MLB in ER given up, 3rd in era, & 3rd in FIP. The pitching is doing quite well. I keep hearing that Elias has done nothing about the pitching. But here we are as one of the elite pitching teams in baseball right now and below is what Fangraphs had to say about the system. Why are people still saying our organization has ignored pitching? Why are people suggesting trading potential generational talent for mediocre pitching upgrades? There are so many interesting pitchers in this system that it was tough to include them all. There’s an org we’re aware of whose scouts need to write a full report on a player if he touches 95 in front of them. If you’re a scout from that team covering Baltimore, you’ve had to write up more than 80 pitchers based on their peak velo alone. The retaining wall of arms is strong in the upper levels, giving the Orioles the pitching depth to contend amid injuries.
  2. I tend to agree. RZNJ brings up a good point. It takes two to tango. The player has to be on board with the decision. Impossible to know how it played out internally.
  3. Can Mods move this thread before it goes off the rails….again.
  4. Hays playing like his job isn’t on the line.
  5. I think I’m being throttled.
  6. Followed up his banana route with a bone head play. That can’t happen.
  7. Holy banana route Bat Man!
  8. My kid is 12. Imagine you are quite old in comparison.
  9. The kids love it. My son ran and grabbed me to tell me Gunnar is doing interview in the field.
  10. We can kiss that 11 WAR season goodbye. Hello slump after HR derby.
  11. I hope that is the case. I’m not naive enough to think they didn’t weigh all potential outcomes either.
  12. The choice to maybe have him pitch in one postseason will likely result in him missing two. And by all accounts, very narrowly. I didn’t like the decision. As a fan I was rooting for a glorious comeback. But the reality is that it was a two year gamble that’s biting us in the butt with a much stronger team.
  13. If that’s the case and they are even remotely close, what in the world were they doing last year waiting on the surgery?
  14. Please do not trade Santander’s replacement.
  15. Have to. Wipe that tish off and go get um’
  16. Tony!!! Someone pay that man!!! *not the O’s
  17. So I’ve spent a bunch of time of Suarez’ BBref page and it’s fascinating. 17 seasons of baseball all over the world in an a ton of leagues (APPY, NYPL, MIDW, GULF, FLOR, VEWL, SOUL, TL, NL, PCL, CALL, ARZ, JPEL, JPCL, KBO, IL, AL) The thing I’ve noticed is that he is incredibly consistent. In all those 17 seasons: 1. His total era in all 17 years is 3.60 (3.81 MLB, 3.71MiLB, 3.45 Foreign) 2. His total H9 is is 9.0 (8.4MLB, 8.9MiLB, 9.1 Foreign) 3. His total HR9 is 0.7 (.9MLB, .8MiLB, .5 Foreign) 4. His total BB9 is 2.7 (3.0MLB, 2.5MiLB, 2.8 Foreign) 5. His total k9 is 7.0 (6.8 MLB, 6.7 MiLB, 7.7 Foreign) He’s done that pitching quite a few innings (175MLB, 636MiLB, 676 Foreign) For comparison sake this year he is 2.43era, 7.9H9, 0.2HR9, 3.3BB9, & 6.8K9. His H9 & HR9 are down a good bit resulting in the lower era. The BB9 is up slightly and the k9 is right at his career average. I see some regression in his future as the HR9 returns closer to career avg. but I don’t see him completely falling off a cliff. Hes not going to over power you but you know what your going to get. I find it pretty incredible how he’s maintained a very consistent output of performance throughout his 17 years. Not a lot of peaks and valleys. That has a ton of value. Glad to see him have some success in the later part of his career. Easy guy to root for.
  18. 6ip 3H 2K 0BB not a ton of WHIFF and some hard contact. His 2.43 era is almost a full run below his FIP but regardless is pitching 38% better than league average. The man just does not give up HRs. Only 2 in 59ip. If he can cover 110-120 innings @ a 3.50 era, that would be incredible.
  19. Cakes and Pies! Cakes and Pies!!
