It's hard to complain about what Burnes has done and it's certainly not his fault the O's are 0-4 in his last four starts, but he came with a hype that's hard to live up to. So many analysts were saying "the Orioles finally have a real Game 1 starter for October!" but right now it's hard to imagine him mowing down the Phillies or whoever.

Why? In 9 starts he’s only given up 3 ERs twice.  He’s been darn good.   Seems pretty easy to imagine him mowing down just about anyone he faces.

I'd like to see Westburg lead off vs. LHers, Gunnar vs. RHers.

Gunnar is OPSing .113 points higher v. LHP than RHP this year.  He’s one of the best hitters in the game, a potential MVP and will be rightfully batting lead-off everyday he plays this year.

It’s all good Eddie, I understand your point and others as well. I worked in college sports for 9 years so I fully understand how a manager wouldn’t want to disrespect or hurt a veteran etc and in this case Mullins has been a well respected and productive/important O’ for a long time.

From my personal perspective, I think Hyde needs to give the team the best chance to tie the game which is not Mullins but I get it but don’t agree.

Managers have to make tough calls, it’s not always about managing “X’s and O’s” but managing the 25 on the roster and if Hyde feels it’s more important to “stand by” Mullins there vs potentially hurting his mental even more by going with Stowers then I’ll just have to disagree with Hyde even if I believe he’s a good manager overall.

Mullins hit the ball 100mph.  If it’s 10’ to the left or right the game is tied.

Gunnar is highest ranked Os player at 16th overall.  Mountcastle is 20th and Cowser is 39th.

    Adley is down to 180.

Helps explain how hard these guys are hitting the ball. Adley is hitting it harder this year than before but he’s still down the chart.

I’m guessing we will see that correlation between bat speed and higher exit velos. (Hence Stanton being #1)

Playing sporadically and pinch hitting is not the way you judge someone's talent at the major league level. They gave Holliday every chance to be an everyday guy and he proved he needs more seasoning. All these guys they bring up should be given the same chance.

Holliday had a position.  HK does not have a spot on the team unless someone is injured.  Who should they benched to give HK every day ABs?  Santander, O'Hearn, Cowser?

I think Rubenstein is happy with Elias and will keep him for as long as Elias wants to stay.  I imagine he will compensate Elias at an elite level.  So Elias should stay unless he has some personal reasons for wanting another job.  Maybe a team he grew up as a fan of and getting a chance to run that club.  However I think he is happy enough here.  Let him get kids in school and his wife gets friends and all that make it hard as hell to leave.  Heck even Oakland's Beane used his daughter as the excuse for not taking the dream job of Boston.

If I had to bet if Rubenstein lets him run the club the way he thinks is correct and pays him on an acceptable rate of an elite GM he should stay.  There really is no higher job for his career path.  Only bigger market clubs might be a draw.

Were you aware that he’s from NOVA and grew up as an Orioles fan?

Then Who goes to the Pen?

No one.  They will go to a 6 man rotation and keep Burned on a regular schedule.  Means, Bradiah, and GRod can use the extra day to help manage their workload.

I don't know, the echo every time they went to the lady in the dugout was atrocious. Some bad camera angles. The one advantage is 1080P, not much else.

I couldn’t believe they even threw the ball home. Zero chance at getting him unless he fell or something.

    Why risk Gunnar to third?

I want to see De La Cruz and Mateo race.

I mean.  It should have been close.  The OF cut the ball off.  You just knew he was going and there’d be a play and wow, just wow.  9 times out of 10 runner is hosed.  To your point, the speed caught them off guard and caused an unforced error.
