    So, the 42 innings as a starter is a large enough sample size, but the 29 innings in relief is too small of a sample size to draw any conclusions?

    That is 25 relief appearances. That is pretty significant.

    Are you really arguing otherwise?

    I was  actually referring to the 355.1 IP in minors of 5.2 BB/9 while he was a starter.

    I don't think you know what coin flip means.

    I’m not a fan. I have zero confidence in his ability to perform at a high level.  He has had his moments, but he’s often walking a tightrope.  If he’s pitching for us in the playoffs in high leverage situations we are In trouble.

    Why?

    He had 7 straight appearances without allowing a hit or a walk before last time out.

    He did hit a batter in one of those.

    But that's still 6 clean appearances in the last 8 times out for him.   Why talk about it like it's something rare?

    His save % is not good.  He’s a coin flip.

    Huge fan of the Cano pitching strategy change to change eye levels.

    Good adjustment.   Dude can bring 98.  No need to live at bottom of the zone.

    I hate the name Yandy.

    A lot of time Latin families try to phonetically spell American names.

    Yandy = Andy (ee-ahn-dee)

    Stiven = Steven (stee-van)

    Maychel = Michael (my-kel)

    Have always thought it was kinda cool.

    I wonder if Manoah ever makes it back.  I am very curious how he reacts to this tough news on his arm.

    Probably buys a  six pack and blames someone else.

    I’ll try again.  What do you mean when you say they won’t tolerate a pitcher who doesn’t throw strikes?

    I mean that that pitcher is going to have a very short leash on how long they put up with the free passes and they will move on quickly.

    I’m not sure what you mean when you say you haven’t seen them tolerate a pitcher who doesn’t throw strikes.   They showed a lot of patience with Hall and put him in the bullpen in the middle of a division push and then in the playoffs.  He did quite well.    McDermott could go in a trade but I think they’d rather hold onto him.

    Maybe I’m off base, but to me when the new FO took over one of the biggest changes I noticed was an emphasis on pitchers that threw the ball over the plate and didn’t give out as many free passes.

    They tolerated Hall for 5 years and I’m pretty sure they would have been happy to have him in this years bullpen if he wasn’t part of the Burnes trade.

    He was a 1st round draft pick and had a live arm, of course they tolerated him.  He also only pitched 33 total innings for the Os in those 5 years.  Not sure the 2024 version would be on the 26 man.  I hope he rebounds when he comes back from the knee injury.  Sounds like that could be soon.
