  1. They also took some reasonable measures of containment that won't happen here.
  2. Mookie Betts trade looking bad for Dodgers
  3. This is a ridiculous paragraph.
  4. Saw this come across my transaction tracker this morning, though they are being dated to February 14: Alexis Cruz Eris Rodriguez Carlos Vicioso Brayan Hernandez Francis Martinez This is literally all I can find about these guys. Five names. No positions, DoBs, countries of origin. EDIT: I did find this: Dominican RHP Alexis Cruz
  5. I feel like you don’t even read what you write. You admit Akin has things to refine in AAA but are perplexed when he is sent there to do it. Then lament that Eshelman is getting innings when we have to re-establish why Akin is going to AAA. Eshelman is cannon fodder. Why is this difficult for you?
  6. Projected opening day 26-man rosters by average age: For being the second youngest team in the league, I dunno where this thread came from.
  7. Still dying on that Dilson Herrera hill, I see. I don’t buy it because you’d have to find him a roster spot.
  8. Orioles legend Jack Zoellner signed with the Schaumberg Boomers of the Frontier League over the weekend.
  9. The Orioles have also signed former Blue Jay pitcher Danny Barnes to a minor league contract. The 30 year old was a 35th round pick by the Jays in 2010; the Orioles would be his first job outside that organization. Barnes pitched 120 inning for the major league team between 2016-2018 to a 4.33ERA. Barnes spent five weeks on the DL in 2018 and was outrighted in January 2019, where he spent most of 2019 rehabbing an injury. Barnes elected free agency at the end of the 2019 season.
  10. The Orioles have re-signed SS Sean Miller to minor league contract. He spent the majority of 2019 at Frederick with a little bit of time in Bowie. He is a 25 year old glove first shortstop who played a lot of second base for the Keys.
  11. The Orioles have parted ways with LHP Matthew Hammonds (Delmarva) and RHP Jose A. Rodriguez (DSL). Hammonds was the Orioles 29th round pick in 2017. He may have retired voluntarily. Was blasted in Frederick for 6ER over 0.2 IP but otherwise never pitched above Delmarva. Rodriguez was an international signing by the Rockies in 2014, and had also played in the Brewer's system before signing with the O's in 2018. He is also 24 years old in the DSL, so the writing may have been on the wall for him.
  12. There’s a whole thread about guessing this already...
  13. Rochs latest definitely paints a bad picture for whatever Mancini’s dealing with.
  14. I think I’m the only one who didn’t immediately think it was serious. I figured it was like, a nose job or a circumcision or a mole removal.
  15. The prospect of going from 4th starter on the O’s to AAA Houston is tough.
  16. I think Stewart wont make opening day, but will make several starts for the O's this season.
  17. @SteveA Feather in your cap for being the only person to not pick Bailey to make the team.
  18. Why? Kremer wasn't making the club. Niether was McKenna.
  19. I think there are plenty of players that could be DFA'd before Hess. Like Austin Wynns and DSJ. Like, Hess I think could be better. Wynns and DSJ are what they are, and I don't think it's much, and worse, they have been made redundant by other players. You could easily do Severino/Holaday and Sisco/Davis at the Major and AAA levels with someone like Cumberland or Fajardo in a pinch. Wynns is a decent defender but he'll never be a major leaguer. I think he'd pass through waivers no problem. DSJ doesn't have a position. He's won't hit enough to play everyday and he's not enough on defense to warrant a bench spot. DH spot is full.
  20. https://www.sports-reference.com/blog/2020/03/play-index-changes-coming-to-baseball-reference-com/ Make sure you read the full blog, but this is nice: During the deployment of these changes, the Play Index on Baseball-Reference.com (and the to be launched Stathead.com Baseball) will be free. They will continue to be free through at least April 30th. If you are a current subscriber to either of our products, we have already extended your subscription by an additional two months during this free period.
  21. I'm still intrigued by the whole Hess offseason narrative of "I'm doing what John Means did" and "I'm tweaking my delivery to get better use out of my massive legs" (I think he's a quadzilla). What happened to all that? I can't believe that we haven't seen any change (improvement or otherwise) to his game.
  22. His ABs are 5 hits, 1K, 3 outs. Six walks and two sac flies are not counted as at bats.
  23. I made this. This catcher view, so Sisco stands --> lefty I see a guy who slowly started swinging at inside pitches where he had not when he was on fire.
