  1. Looks like he is going to finish 1 for 4 with a walk. Pretty cool if you end a day with a 1.400 OPS despite losing 'thousands of points.' heh
  2. To be clear, we all want the team to win. I just don't care whatsoever about which pitcher gets assigned the win. We are more likely to win games where Gibson pitches well vs the games where he pitches poorly. With respect to Gibson's abilities I really only care about the things he has direct control over, and that is things like WHIP, K rate, HR rate, and then a little less directly........his ERA. I know I'm not saying anything particularly profound here but I just wanted to say it at least once. It would certainly be amazing if he wins 18-20 though. No doubt.
  3. Since we are at the 1/3 mark of the season now, you could say he is on pace for 36 starts! If he can make that many starts with a sub 4.00 ERA, that is absolutely fantastic no matter how many times he happens to leave with a lead and then the bullpen happens to not give up enough runs so that the lead is overtaken.
  4. Santander is one of the most reliable bats on our entire roster. Do we expect him to still be here for his final arbitration season next year? At this rate his 2024 salary will easily exceed $10M.
  5. Was at the game yesterday. Really disappointed with how our infield defense played. 2 errors were officially given out but we had more misplays than that. Of course if you score 0 it doesn't ultimately matter. But still...........
  6. Alright guys. My fault. Im at Ironbirds game tonight. Holliday struck out on 3 pitches first time up.....and just muffed a grounder in the 3rd. I should have known better.
  7. Tigers are 2 and a half games back of 1st place right now. They have been playing much better baseball since we crushed them earlier. I'm not so sure they will be looking to deal for prospects.
  8. Curious. Who is our top prospect who is doing great at 1B in the minors? I suppose it's possible you mean Kjerstad, although he has nearly as many games in RF so far (12) as he does at 1B (13).
  9. Ugh i have to modify my previous post. Forgot about this travesty. They should get rid of the ridiculous animated hot dog "race." It's so much more fun and exciting to watch silly mascots run around the warning track like at most other ballparks. You could even keep them as hot dogs. This is priority #1. Changing the 7th inning stretch song is #2.
  10. The Orioles need good right handed hitters. Our lineup can't be 9 guys batting left-handed; it becomes way too exploitable by opposing teams. Think we have one right handed hitter currently with an OPS above .800 who regularly starts (Hays). Now thankfully we have some great switch hitters too admittedly. EDIT - and i think it's worth noting that as much as we talk about guys like Ryan Mountcastle being screwed over by the new wall........ He is hitting better at home so far in 2023. (and he also hit with ~ 70 more OPS points at home vs on the road in 2022).
  11. It would make more sense for the Orioles to use Crabs for Christmas in the 7th inning than Country Boy. I'd settle for just about anything other than what we have now. Probably the only thing I consistently dread about going to Orioles games is having to hear that song.
  12. OK thanks. That makes sense. Hopefully it gets cleared up soon.
  13. Oh and by the way. Druw Jones has a .483 OPS so far in A ball in the D'backs organization. Age 19. Not saying anything. Just saying.
  14. Did Roch just set his twitter feed to private? I can't see his tweets anymore. Anyone have any idea what happened?
  15. Bump. Still not expecting anything. But maybe next week? Selfishly I am hoping to get to an Ironbirds game this week to see Jackson. So I'm open to him staying in Aberdeen at least until Memorial Day before going to AA.
  16. He has a 1.214 combined OPS between low and high A at the age of 19. That is what is new. No rational person (imo) is ever going to EXPECT a prospect to perform at that level as a teenager. It's all theory crafting until you see players play. Even if expectations are high. He is outperforming guys like A-Rod, Griffey, and Trout with the bat at these levels. Granted a lot of them played there at age 18.
  17. I think people remember some guy named Adley Rutschman. Took him THREE years to make his debut! Plus he was much older. I would be curious to see a detailed look at how Holliday is performing at low A and high A compared to the last several 1:1 picks.
  18. Getting Givens back will definitely help. We may need yet more help though.
  19. O's are 0-5 so far with RISP. Ugh. Love that we are getting so many chances so far though.
  20. Roch just reported Cowser has some quad tightness. That's why he was out of the lineup. Sorry guys. Let's calm down a bit, heh.
  21. Did Koji Uehara mean nothing to you?
  22. Roy continuing to come through in the clutch!
  23. .955 OPS now at Aberdeen. Someone needs to tell him that that is where your offense is supposed to go to die.
  24. I would be surprised if Cano or Bautista is used today. Especially Bautista who threw 29 pitches. Cano actually went 1.2 innings but with only 18 pitches so I guess it is possible he is available.
