Man I have some questions for Elias. Torrens is DFA after not appearing in a single game afaik. Good for Vavra. He is definitely one of the top 6 or 7 infielders that we could have chosen from at AAA.

The Lopez trade to MN may shape up to be even better for this organization than the fabled, mystical, magical Bedard trade of olden days.

He does have an OPS of .826 vs LHP this year as opposed to............. .000 vs RHP. Just a little bit of a platoon split. We are only talking about 31 total PA though so far.

OK, I'll see if I can redeem myself and ask something on topic here. Over 500 PA at the AAA level now. Hitting very well. I can't help but wonder............is this guy more likely to be called up to be a main contributor this year? Or is he more likely to be trade bait? 500 PA of near .900 OPS is a pretty big sample size................

Holliday is hitting .235/.381/.529 so far for the Ironbirds. 4 walks to 4 K's. Great to see the plate discipline is still there. Only 5 games so far (and worth noting that none of them in Aberdeen yet) but hopefully the kid shows he is ready to move quickly.

It just seems unavoidable that the O's are doomed to be bargain basement hunting, penny pinching scavengers until this thing gets resolved. (Or Angelos sells....hah). And the O's will delay for as many years as possible to keep it from ever resolving. Sigh.

I think it's pretty cut and dry that a huge part of the deal hinged on MASN paying the Nationals "fair market value" for the five year period in question. And presumably the subsequent five year period. The Orioles and Nats GREATLY disagreed on how much 'fair market value' was and it went to other arbitrators. So far it seems like the arbitrators have consistently said that the O's offer was too low. I have zero sympathy for O's brass in how all of this has played out. But it sucks for the fans of both teams and I think the Nats are justified in saying that they have 'suffered' from being denied hundreds of millions of dollars now potentially. Seems to me like good faith negotiations could have resolved this a long long time ago.

Anyone know if Matt Harvey is available?

Problem is it's hard to justify playing him over Mateo (assuming he will be back from injury very soon) or Gunnar. So what do you do? I don't think they want to stick him at 2nd especially with Westburg also close. I think it's a tough call.

This guy seems like he could be really good.
