  1. Wow, a college degree. Wow based offer- Refers to the rumor that Angelos was offering a "Wow" offer that would convince Teixeira to sign with the Orioles. Downfall clip- In this context Downfall obviously refers to some form of video or audio clip. If were to google "Downfall parody" on Google you get a ton of various hits. If you were to explore those links you should be able to figure out that someone used the available template to make a Downfall parody that had Hitler ranting about the O's wow offer to Teixeira. I figure you went to college before Google was a thing but this is really basic stuff.
  2. The idea is, by the time the team is competitive again Santander would have been out of baseball for at least five years so why not get something for him?
  3. Yea, those old school guys were such beacons of character and integrity. Fixing stuff like this is simple, take his vote away. My guess is he did this to attract attention and he succeeded in that. He obviously isn't interested in the actual process of enshrining players in the Hall.
  4. I would have kept Miller over O'Day, or let both go.
  5. So you want the O's to trade guys before they turn into pumpkins but letting Cruz go was stupid? Huh? What beastie should they have been elbow deep into the entrails of to find out that Cruz would age historically well?
  6. I don't buy the sock it away theory. I'm just stating that the 2023 team is going to have a budget and questioning if paying Kim ~8M of that budget will be in the best interest of the 2023 team. Hopefully one of the horde of young shortstops in the system can handle 2B at the ML level by 2023.
  7. I think you would admit that if the O's are paying Kim 7M in 2024 that is 7M that they won't be spending elsewhere.
  8. As a middle infielder he'd be too old for me to consider extending him.
  9. Because I meant 1 and hit 2 because I'm an idiot.
  10. Let's say Kim puts up four 2 win seasons. Total investment is going to be about 37M for those four years. So he's basically costing you a bit over the going rate. Now the O's are not worried about wins next season, so the two wins he's worth in 2021 isn't something the O's should be paying 8M for. Assuming the O's value wins in 2022-2024 he still would be a poor signing, for the O's, at free agent prices.
  11. Snell's 28. That's a solid enough guideline when it comes to extending guys but it doesn't work as well when talking about trading assets at peak value.
  12. You also need to find trading partners who are willing to give up prospects to acquire your getting expensive assets. You can't be a seller without a buyer. Of course a big part of that is developing players that have a high enough perceived value.
  13. He's joking right? He doesn't actually think it's a simple process?
  14. Aside from the whole team won't spend the money anyway thing? I don't think he's likely to be worth the contract. I'm not at all convinced his bat will translate.
  15. Because of the.last history of former KBO players. Drungo gave us the numbers.
  16. Posting fee of 5.25M. Higher than I would have gone. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2020/12/padres-sign-ha-seong-kim.html
  17. Most teams don't seem to care about the optics. Look how bad the Cubs look right now. You think they care?
  18. I could see a scenario in which he's kept down all of 2021 and held back for another year of team control in 2022, depending on how the CBA discussions go.
  19. Me? It would depend on the whole group but I'd rather not have Cal be involved. I think it has a greater chance of ending poorly than it does being a benefit.
  20. Eh. The amount of money teams can spend goes down pretty sharply the deeping into the draft you go.
  21. I'm just saying McDonalds can open 100 stores and that taco joint down the road can open a second location and only one has 100% growth. And yes, all of this conversation is based off this one guy's article. You are bringing this up now why? You knew that was going to be the case when you clicked on the thread. You knew that was the case for all of your other comments in this thread.
  22. Gosh that should mean that improving it would be easy. As opposed to the Rays who finished higher on this list despite already have a top ranked farm system.
