    He does play in Center occasionally. Kinda like how Mancini is an outfielder or Davis is a hitter. Technically they qualify.

    Left handed power pitcher with massive command issues. Obviously the ceiling isn't the same but some times it takes guys longer.

    The O's had more than 4M more in their pool than the Jays.

    I do. I think they valued Kjerstad + the savings higher than Martin at what he would have cost. That's a reasonable strategy.

    Everything they can do includes telling him to pound sand and taking the 2021 pick.

    I'll believe the Jays are willing to spend two #1's and a #2 on Martin when I see it and not a moment before. Smart move is to call his bluff and collect the pick for next year if he goes back to school.

    Just because of draft status? No. if you take the tenth best player second because he'll sign for #7 money why should his prospect ranking go up?(Hypothetically)

    The O's have spent their full pool before. They have not exceeded it to my knowlege. I don't think the 5% overage is in play.

    I feel confident in saying the O's have never gone over their pool allotment under the current version of the draft.

    Which means he's signed, since no way they ink those other deals if they have any doubt he signs. They would have to void some of them.

    It just seems that some people here can more about the guys picked in the fourth and fifth rounds than they do with the second and third picks.
