  1. I agree, not a fan of "hiding" the starting pitching. The Yankees know who Means is.
  2. Now their willingness to play double headers makes more sense.
  3. I'm sure they weren't adjusting player values on the fly because of spring training results.
  4. I think doing it as an actual game thread with a minute or so between updates would be great....if we could get people to come out for it. Pretty big if.
  5. How accurate can the numbers be when so many carriers are asymptomatic?
  6. Hyde should have left him out there to eat some innings, going to burn out the bullpen by May at this rate!
  7. Wouldn't it be great to watch an A's/Braves world series played in from of 10K fans in Miami?
  8. Here I thought able bodied persons should be self quarantining while letting the actual experts work on the problems.
  9. If they are going with two doubleheaders a week just let teams play with their full 40 man rosters. That way the MLBPA gets extra service time for their members.
  10. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/28951069/mlb-union-weighing-variables-related-potential-restart-season
  11. You were making the equivalent of $24.90+ busing tables? (10.00 in 1984 is 24.90 in 2020) That seems unlikely.
  12. Yea, if you are working 40 hour weeks at 15 am hour. How many of those jobs do you think are out there for kids out of HS? Not sure that, as a vet, I'd consider military service as a comparable situation to playing short season baseball. I'd also point out that only 29% of 18-24 year olds are fit to serve.
  13. Cartoon like? It wasn't long ago that the Union collectively bargined: An end to ML contracts for draftees. Hard slots for draftees. International pools. The players have shown a willingness to put their own needs ahead of those that haven't made it yet. Since they are in a union they have insulation from criticism. They can profess sympathy while stating it was beyond their ability to change.
  14. As my father tells me, it's good to want things, builds character.
  15. Hmm what could ML players have to lose by making things easier for those guys in the minors that want their jobs? Any capital the players use to forward the causes of the minor league players in collective bargaining would be capital that could be used to forward their own cases. ML players also pay $85 a day in union dues, the guys in the minors can't pay that yet they will be benefiting from the money the ML players are contributing. It makes little sense for ML players to want to expand their Union.
  16. Why should they? What's in it for current players to vote to include minor league players into their union?
  17. Creamy not chunky, chunky would be gross.
  18. So as a younger man (defense peaks early) he was average defensively for a college player. That doesn't sound like a ringing endorsement of his prowess.
