  1. He certainly hasn't proven he can hit while recovering from mononucleosis.
  2. I guess you didn't watch any games in September?
  3. Jorge (Tony) Sanchez. Fourth overall selection out of Boston College in the 2009 MLB draft. https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/s/sanchto01.shtml
  4. I've actually stated that in cases of actual top prospects I'm fine with gaming service time. Are you asking why I want 2021 and not 2022? I'm not in favor of keeping anyone, especially a pitcher or catcher, rotting in the minors so they can be a year older when they make their ML debut. If he's ready in 2021, which he should be, he should be up.
  5. I'm expecting him not to get promoted to AAA so they have a convenient excuse to game his service time in 2021. I'm also expecting slightly disappointing numbers at the plate (relative to the hype).
  6. Just think how fast they would have promoted him if he had possessed a third pitch.
  7. Fun piece on McCann. https://stream.org/mlb-cheating-scandal-brian-mccann/
  8. I don't think he gets called up 2020 either way. But they wouldn't keep him down for the whole of 2021. It would stop holding guys back for an extra year and it would stop keeping guys down to avoid super 2. Standardizing payroll would probably increase service time manipulation as a Super 2 would be overly expensive for every team.
  9. That won't stop teams from wanting more cost controlled control. Why wouldn't my idea work?
  10. One day in the majors (outside of September) = one year service time. Super 2 would also go away.
  11. I'm not even in favor of him making the team out of spring training. As a catcher he needs some time to learn how to call pitches. If the O's had ended up with Andrew Vaughn I could see a case for making the team out of camp.
  12. I try not to frequent the places folks of that ilk congregate.
  13. No one said it was. I think part of the reason is that he's a catcher and they need a lot of catchers early in ST because of the amount of throwing.
  14. Do you think being in ML camp hurt either one of them from a development standpoint?
  15. Expecting Akin and Kremer to get sent down at some point this season.
  16. Kyle Murray thinks he can play both sports in the same season. https://www.nbcsports.com/video/kyler-murray-believes-he-can-play-football-baseball-same-year
  17. 2020 wouldn't be unprecedented but 2021 would be expected. If he isn't up by 2021 something went wrong.
  18. You need lots of catchers in spring training. Might as well start acclimating him to the "ML" pitchers and coaches instead of giving the opportunity to some depth signing. I don't see how it alters his development arc in any way.
  19. Worse catchers have been part of winning teams.
  20. Tigers out did them last year.
  21. I love the name calling that goes on around here. I'm being realistic. You can't after the fact punish a bunch of players that are protected by a strong union. MLB messed this up by not having strict, written guidelines in place. They purposely omitted players from being punished.
  22. Unless Buster really has a thing for orange and black I don't see a fit.
