But he had a top 3 OPS for an outfielder when they traded for him! He was an elite MOO bat! This gives the O's an inside track on signing him! The defensive metrics are screwy, he's a plus defender, he has two gold gloves!

He might not be a factor but he could have been a guy that gets called up to make a spot start or take over a rotation spot while someone goes on the DL. There is value in that.
