  1. It's because they are a large market club, got to curry favor with those guys. You also don't hear about the Yankees being lucky even with a crappy run differential to go with the above .500 record.
  2. I think that the move at the time was worthy of being questioned. I am now convinced he was hurt. You and I both know phantom injuries are part of sports.
  3. <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p><a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/Nats?src=hash">#Nats</a> OF Nate McLouth will undergo surgery on Thurs. to repair the labrum in his R shoulder. He will miss the remainder of the 2014 season.</p>— Washington Nationals (@Nationals) <a href=" ">August 19, 2014</a></blockquote><script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
  4. Of course the odds improve, they have one less game left to run the O's down. That is a reason to be glad you are in first place.
  5. To me it would belay common sense. Doesn't mean that MLB didn't do it.
  6. Were they not a pair of two game series? The O's won one series and split the other. If the O's and Yanks play a home and away it doesn't count as a six game series.
  7. Was a pair of two game series with the Nats. Just because they are back to back shouldn't change that.
  8. Now when you can get into the pen in the third inning, it can pay dividends for a whole series.
  9. Even if Lough has underperformed.
  10. I'll be happy when the standings have that little mark by Baltimore signaling the race is over.
  11. Rich Hill is back in the majors.
  12. You know I am skeptical by nature. I think it is certainly possible that the Braves/Pirates version of Nate showed up this year and the Nats are hiding him on the DL. Just seems suspicious that he has been hurt all season and only now goes on the DL.
  13. That is odd, the piece I quoted yesterday said "McLouth has played through inflammation in his right shoulder for much of the season,". I wonder if he is hurt at all or if this is just a cover story.
  14. He's won them one game. Of course it isn't like the O's could use a hot bat right around now.
  15. So will all the moves yesterday the team that most improved it's chances to make the playoffs were the Blue Jays, who didn't make a move.
  16. He did, I just was not online for it.
  17. All that talk about Appel getting promoted? <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>Mark Appel throws five scoreless innings, allowing two hits and four walks in his first Double-A start.</p>— Brian McTaggart (@brianmctaggart) <a href=" ">July 31, 2014</a></blockquote><script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
  18. <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>The <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/BlueJays?src=hash">#BlueJays</a> have acquired IF Danny Valencia from the <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/Royals?src=hash">#Royals</a> for Liam Hendriks & Erik Kratz, according to <a href="https://twitter.com/Ken_Rosenthal">@Ken_Rosenthal</a>.</p>— FOX Sports: MLB (@MLBONFOX) <a href=" ">July 28, 2014</a></blockquote><script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
  19. And that friends is why no matter how much you like them, you don't give long term extensions to relief pitchers. Remember this when you want to start that thread about locking Britton up this next offseason.
