I'm not sure it's easier, less expensive sure but easier? I think finding consistently successful middle relievers isn't that easy. Seems to me there is a lot of performance variance there.

That would be why I said basically. I don't think many HS pitchers make it onto the top 100 list months after being drafted. They were handed two highly talented former HS pitchers that were taken in the first round.

I stumbled understanding what they meant at first myself. I think that they are saying if he can also play a decent outfielder he would have value as a pinch runner/super utility player. One guy that you can plug into six defensive positions.

So if a team were, for some insane reason, want to offer Hicks a three year 45 million contract at the end of the season he doesn't have an ability to sever his contract with the Yankees and accept? Not that it would ever happen but that seems odd that it wouldn't be an option.
