  1. He does. But historically, he doesn't. I don't view him as a long term answer but I'll take it for now.
  2. He's probably better than Norby. But I bet Norby would outhit him.
  3. Much rather the owners make hundreds of million per year. None of them are bums.
  4. A man could injure a toe doing that.
  5. Unless they pay him more than the Yankees are on the hook for!
  6. Then I would appreciate it if you didn't make inflammatory comments about other posters' opinions.
  7. He's got a Twin brother who is 5'8".
  8. Sure, it is more difficult to play well against, and beat, more talented opposition. Not arguing that at all. We just appear to have someone saying this is true because of course it's true despite the lack of evidence to prove it. And I don't agree that we should just assume things. Rick Dempsey won a WS MVP on a team that had Eddie Murray on it. Which one of those two is known for being "clutch"?
  9. I want you to show me evidence that the "intensity, pressure and stress" of postseason baseball has a measurable impact on player performance. I don't think the majority of players wilt under pressure.
  10. Show me some evidence supporting it then. Beyond the simple you play better teams in the postseason, after all you could always end up playing the Rays, Rangers and Braves in a row in the regular season.
  11. They are currently on pace to make it as a wildcard.
  12. From Gameday: Adam Frazier remains in the game as the second baseman. Ryan O'Hearn remains in the game as the first baseman. Defensive switch from second base to third base for Jordan Westburg. Cedric Mullins remains in the game as the center fielder. Defensive switch from center field to right field for Aaron Hicks. Defensive switch from third base to shortstop for Gunnar Henderson.
  13. What I read indicated that it was bunt attempts for hits. I also will state again, bunting for a hit seems to be more difficult than fans think it is. I give you the all time leader and you are "I think it's higher". For the record Butler's success rate isn't the highest but he seemed like the best example to use.
  14. The player in question had 54 HR over 17 seasons. How many modern players have such little power? To exert that much effort for that level of gain....well no one that actually plays or coaches seems to think it's worth it. Even the all time leader, that's ~22 attempts a season.
  15. Because the success rate won't be as high as you think it would be. The all time leader, to include dead ball era, had 190 bunt singles, he was successful about half the time. How much value is there in exchanging a regular at bat for a 50/50 chance at a single? (assuming you could maintain that success rate)
  16. He will be eventually. If the writers don't put him in one of the Vet committees will.
  17. Because it's not as useful a skill in reality as baseball fans think it is?
  18. Speak for yourself, I was pleased to learn that the O's possess the consensus #1 ranked farm system. I'm shocked Elias never mentioned that before.
  19. While I'm pleased this isn't in Orioles talk I will say you missed a chance to be petty by not putting it in the minors section.
  20. Or that he'd agree to sign with the Orioles. He's probably holding a grudge that they didn't think highly enough of him to even make an offer last time.
