  1. Like I said, moderately concerned. 36% of the adult population in the US hits the mark for obese. The medical community is not "very concerned" about a third of the population. Is it something he needs to be aware of? Sure. Is he being monitored? Of course he is.
  2. You willing to hit him with a QO? It was $19.65 million last year.
  3. Most likely he is either going through a non-competitive patch as he pitching himself back into shape or he's lost it. Neither one of which is a legitimate reason to use the IL.
  4. I can't think of any instances in which a minor league catcher was held up for a season and a half because his glove wasn't ready. Are you thinking of anything specific? We have seen other teams promote guys under 20 that play catcher. Do you think that kid that plays for the Padres is going to be held back because of his position?
  5. I wonder how long they can all stay healthy? They all get hurt right?
  6. Not to give you a hard time but 2023-2009=14 and 250-185=65. That's under 5 pounds a year. It's not great but I don't think it qualifies as a very concerning condition. Maybe moderately? I'm sure he gets regular checkups.
  7. Being overweight is not an injury. As far as I am aware we have no actual evidence that Givens qualifies for a stint on the IL. Elias surely had reports of how he looked in the rehab appearances, they declared him healthy and put him on the roster.
  8. But they traded for him for Pearce. They got 60 at bats out of him. Tampa didn't play Pearce in the outfield that season, Buck puts him out there and he gets hurt pretty shortly thereafter. I'm pretty sure both teams knew Pearce wasn't exactly healthy when they made the trade. The whole thing just reeks of Buck wanting one of his guys back. And since I was one of the few folks to speak out against the trade when it happened, I can claim no hindsight needed. I'd rather keep as many quality receivers in the minors as i can hoard.
  9. So how many years should it take to build a real contender? Seven? Eight? A solid decade? I get what you are saying but to say they are ahead of a reasonable schedule, I just don't agree. We have laughably low expectations as a fanbase.
  10. You think SIX years to be a serious contender is ahead of schedule? How many years did you expect it to take?
  11. I don't see them eating that contract this quickly.
  12. Are they tho? This is year 5 under Elias and right now they look to be competing for a WC spot. Is that ahead of schedule?
  13. It's odd to me that a "gritty" "scraper" type player has a low baseball IQ.
  14. They weren't pitching well. Maybe Hyde figured, with the day off, that he could just burn most the pen for an inning each?
  15. Even with Hays out I think having McKenna in left instead of Center is a bit of a head scratcher.
  16. I don't know you can blame this one on Sig. I think Hyde wanted to get him in a game.
  17. I don't think he's going more than three. Would be nice if he could soak up 4+.
