  1. If they realized he was unlikely to develop, since he *sucks* why didn't they trade him? It just seems you are putting all the blame on the player and none on the organization.
  2. Because you didn't understand what I was actually saying. You are blaming the player instead of blaming the team or, as I did, suggest that the player and the team are just not compatible from a developmental standpoint. Their was an almost universally held view that Hall had a ton of potential when Elias and company arrived. If he now "sucks" what happened in the intervening years?
  3. I don't think he needs to be cut at the moment. I was referencing a poster that thinks a player being "replacement level" is unacceptable.
  4. Billy Hamilton has been ~replacement level since 2019. I thought performance like that was unacceptable?
  5. You say you are not claiming to be able to diagnose the problem yet you diagnosed him as having a problem? We don't actually know these guys. We don't know what makes them tick what other factors are in play or how they react to various stimuli. I can seeing it's in his head, it's got to be effecting him mentally, he's pouting. It's all speculation. Do you think Elias and Co don't allocate resources to that aspect of play?
  6. Two-thirds of the Hangout: Just so many folks that are experts in sports psychology and Kinesics here. It's a truly amazing community Tony has put together.
  7. Buck was wrong to do it the way he did it. He had some players he'd bully in front of the media and others that he coddled. But sure, being more selective would be beneficial to his game. Even then everyone understood that (I think even Mountcastle). It just isn't as easy as "Well I guess I won't swing at these bad pitches anymore". Or everyone would do it.
  8. Don't you think the sample size is still too small to make such a sweeping generalization? How good did Mateo look in April? Did that end up being an accurate gauge of him as an offensive player? I'm super aggressive when it comes to challenging guys but I think the O's can wait a couple of weeks and see if the league makes any adjustments. Has he even made a full run through the competition yet?
  9. I'm sure that the only person to ever communicate anything about being more selective at the plate to Mountcastle was Buck publicly calling him out when he was still a minor leaguer. Before or after that, nothing. Just Buck and yahoos on a message board.
  10. Shocking you would take that view.
  11. Man I hate comments like this. Everyone knows? No everyone doesn't. I bet you could go back and find a championship team with a bat like his hitting in the 3/4/5 slot. Lineup order isn't important! Please speak for yourself and not everyone else.
  12. So the blown saves happen in the eighth instead of the ninth?
  13. We have evidence showing his ability in this regard.
  14. You hunt mistakes and take your walks. I think he knows that already.
  15. I just have the feeling that Hall and the Elias development team aren't a good fit.
  16. I would expect him to. I'd expect most ML ballplayers to be at least conversant in it.
  17. Makes me want to place a bet on them to win tomorrow night.
  18. And this folks is the reasoning behind the Launch Angle Revolution. Three hits so far and 0 runs.
