Let's say Adley hits a dong. Run expectancy with 0 on and 2 outs is 09897. The chance to score one run is 4.48294%, the chance to score 2 is 1.47986%. And that's after Adley pinch hits a HR. I don't want the players to give up. The manager on the other hand I'm fine with taking a longer view.

It's a cumulative effect. Why bring him into a game in which he isn't even the tying run?
