  1. This is years, at a very low price. That was months. The O's could have an elite closer/set up man combo next year for two million. There is value in that.
  2. Yankees got Torres for a couple months of Chapman.
  3. Grayson's already missed time due to injury. Remember 2022? Who knows how much time he'll miss between now and free agency. It's a bad data point to have on his resume. It doesn't help him in any way and could potentially hurt him. Why should he agree to that for no gain? Would you let your employer do whatever the equivalent would be to you? The arbitration stuff is just silly speculation about how a team could use his generosity against him and once again the IL trip would be a data point and not the whole argument.
  4. A lot of players have significant hot and cold stretches. He's one of them.
  5. Man wish I could sense mental defeat via swing analysis. Sounds like it be useful for prop betting.
  6. You know what would be hilarious? If Grayson agreed to a phantom IL stint and then the team used it against him in arbitration hearings. What a hoot that would be. No way a team would ever do something like that tho. Teams that fake injuries are totally ethical in other respects. And yes, teams are going to be looking at every IL stint when he gets to free agency. Are you going to spend hundreds of millions of dollars without doing your due diligence?
  7. A Miller move would be for more than one or two years even if you are factoring in a TJ surgery.
  8. Vegas doesn't really seem to want them.
  9. I don't disagree but the O's are in a position in which they could share all those costs with the NFL team right across the street. So it's not quite as bad as you suggest.
  10. All the stats accumulate over the seasons. As does the reputation for being hurt. I don't want any fake trips to the IL on my record when I hit free agency or even when I get to arbitration.
  11. I agree that it seem intuitive. Thanks for the link.
  12. That one hurts to think about so it's probably a good choice. I think that Oakland would still want some type of lower minors pitching coming back.
  13. Is there a study showing that a guy that throws 100-102 is more of a risk than someone that throws 97-99 or 94-96?.
  14. Sometimes I do question what I think of as a poorly structured argument. In this specific case I'd fall somewhere between Basallo and Kjerstad. I don't think the one is enough and I wouldn't give up the other. I do think the cost to acquire him in 2024 would be high.
  15. Are you questioning my level of self awareness? I do play the devil's advocate on occasion when I think it's the best way to convey a point.
  16. Cool. I'd rather be the guy in the majors instead of the guy who knows Norfolk better than most of the Sailors stationed there.
  17. Sure, but it's a possibility. I'd say his value was pretty darn high already this offseason. Look at someone like Jesus Montero, top 5 prospect over multiple seasons (BA and BP). Ended up being a bust. You don't know until you know.
  18. Would you rather be Darell Herniaz or Conner Norby right now?
  19. So Basallo's elbow fracture issue isn't a concern going forward but Miller's arm is? I don't think you get to have both. You do remember Loewen right? His stress elbow issues can returning.
  20. If I'm Oakland I wait for a better deal from another suitor. Maybe get some pitching back.
  21. Whoo boy, you sure got me there! I had no idea that would be the low hanging response to my comment. Darn, I should have thought ahead.
