  1. What about him? He played two more seasons after playing for the O's.
  2. Twenty eight four innings starts is still 28 starts. ?
  3. I'm waiting for the day a manager says of his guy, "You know his stat line looks pretty good but he's been a lucky SOB.".
  4. Trey's been having a very rough spring with the glove.
  5. Sure they can. Cobb and Davis will be off the books by 2023.
  6. You know those MRIs ain't cheap! There is zero chance I am on board with a Felix throwing in the mid 80's as closer for 1M. We probably have guys in the pen who throw change ups harder than Felix's fastball these days.
  7. Should be a lot more of that with the new balls.
  8. And MurphDogg set the original bar at 28. ? Nice quote tho. ?
  9. Sure. But that seems like a more unlikely explanation than that the O's prefer 4 seam fastballs.
  10. I think it has more to do with the O's not valuing someone who relies on a 2 seam fastball as much as someone who uses the 4 seamer. I've don't recall seeing any evidence that the 2 seam fastball is harder on the arm.
  11. Yea, after ten years of pitching professionally he probably needs to polish his craft.
  12. Soroka and Hudson made 29 and 32 respectively in 2019. So it does happen.
  13. First off what guy trying to make a team isn't going to be complimentary. Secondly, and by far more importantly, I said "too much credit". Holt isn't the only guy involved here so you should spread around the kudos.
  14. That's what Norfolk and pitchers with options are for.
  15. Hold up. Let's not give Holt too much credit here. The Orioles signed Harvey on the 17th of February. This article, showing that Harvey had already been working at the Baseball Performance Center, came out on the 11th. https://pressofatlanticcity.com/sports/high-school/former-mets-star-matt-harvey-trying-to-get-career-back-on-track-at-bpc-must/article_4d53d08a-6be1-5d02-b43d-bc58980264d1.html
  16. You should be pulling your starter before the lineup turns over for a third at bat. I don't want to see most of our rotation facing a guy for a third time.
  17. I don't agree. Not in 2021. If it was 1981 I'd agree with you.
  18. Do you trade him at 25 or do you extend him? Franco at 28 is probably more valuable than what you got back.
  19. The question is when is one year too early when you are talking about a 20 year old shortstop with a sky high ceiling? Getting a 2-3 high end prospects probably won't be as useful as a few 6 win seasons to a contender.
  20. There is a difference between what is possible and what is actually done. Tampa can do it. The ownership hasn't shown much of a desire to do so.
  21. Sure, you have to churn your roster to some degree. But every team, I'm looking at you Tampa, does have the means to keep a couple of foundation players on the roster long term.
  22. I've seen guys comment on how someone has a starters frame and so on and so forth. Does that actually mean anything? I've seen plenty of big workhorse looking guys go down and I've seen some pretty slight starters do just fine.
