  1. And now the chickens are coming home to roost for the quick pull
  2. Pulling Kremer was still stupid.
  3. our ‘pen will be worn out in short order.
  4. Bats**t. He threw less than 75 pitches last time. 113 pitches is not THAT many. A regular occurrence for people like Scherzer. I’m with CoC. Show us some damn science behind this.
  5. They all got J&J, which branded itself as 100% effective at preventing hospitalization and death, but doesn’t prevent “infection”. So to that end the vaccine is performing as advertised. Still, about 25 players/coaches did not get it, it appears.
  6. He's done it once. Much tougher task this time.
  7. Yeah Valdez was not responsible for this one. Defense failed big time.
  8. I was actually fine with it. Normally I hate bunting but it's not like Rio was going to get a hit.
  9. Sorry but this year is not about winning 75 games rather than 65. You have to give these young pitchers experience in tough situations. We have another game with the Sox tomorrow by the way.
  10. Quite a compliment considering we’re 8th in MLB in bullpen ERA
  11. Now the tricky part: keeping it up for 25 more starts!
  12. I guess my point is that the rule changes the game in a fundamental way and that’s really the big thing that sticks in my craw with this. Even if the runner gets on from a dropped third strike or interference, that’s still the result of a mistake by the opposing team.
  13. Ultimately it doesn’t matter how it’s scored in terms of the no hitter. It would be a no hitter and not a perfect game either way. But yeah pitcher probably gets the benefit of the doubt if it’s later in the game.
  14. I know, and I agree it should have been blocked. It’s just one of those things that’s always scored a certain way. It’s like a muffed fly ball where the fielder doesn’t get a glove on it. Usually ruled a hit even though that’s completely unfair to the pitcher. Touched the glove though? Error.
  15. Yeah but a no hitter isn’t a perfect game
  16. It hit the ground. If it hits the ground before reaching the catcher it’s a WP 99.99% of the time. Fair or unfair that’s the way it is.
  17. But there’s a runner on base. I agree it’s probably still a perfect game but there’s still an inconsistency. What if the runner scores on a stolen base and then a sac fly? Is it a perfect game? It’s now possible for a pitcher to pitch a perfect game and lose. That runner should not be on second base. He did nothing to achieve it.
  18. Here's my question. If there's a game where no batter reaches base for 10 innings, and the only player to "reach" base is the ghost runner in the 10th, is it a perfect game, assuming the pitcher pitches all 10 innings? Just another reason to get rid of that abomination.
