This homeplate ump is killing us. Missed the first pitch strike to Marwin.
-
Beyond pathetic for that ball to drop.

I think he pitched well. End of the day, though, he might be best served as a middle innings, swing man/long man. I liked what I saw.
-
Well, he oddly isn't starting tonight... I don't like it.

Palmer is an absolute joy to listen to for me, best commentator in baseball in my humble opinion.
I could listen to Palmer teach a calculus class. Just love his calm voice.

One extremely basic rule of broadcasting is “don’t talk over your partner” and Garceau was doing that constantly. Sheesh.
Agreed. I wanted to hear what Palmer had to say, not Scott.

Yea, if he played a more undisciplined team today, he would have had 8-11 Ks because of some of those pitches you are referring too.
100%.

Yep..21.5 swingstr%.
And his command was amazing. Even the balls he threw were "good balls" - just missing off the plate on the fastball, or just missing down on the changeup. Pitches I expected the Red Sox to chase and they didn't. Easily the best start we have ever seen from him.

More Ks
Agreed, though he did get 14 whiffs today. Really special performance by Means.

I'm looking forward to chanting "Zero Point Zero" when the Orioles clinch the AL East in September.
I almost forgot how much I enjoy watching baseball. Today was a great game. Means was outstanding, Ruiz made some great plays, Mountcastle with the big hit. And Jim Palmer was cracking me up talking about Joe West and his CD.
FACTS.
I missed Palmer in the booth. Just imagine how great it would have been if it was Palmer and Thorne.

What a joy to watch Means today. The command was superb. Let's hope Harvey can keep the scoreless innings streak alive.

NOO. I was hoping it was an April Fool's joke. Appears that it was not.

I thought it would be nice to have a thread where we could post any cuts from other teams that the O's might (or should) have interest in
Rougned Odor is one.

Those injury figures include your brands too. For example, from trials: "For Moderna 81.9% experienced any systemic reaction. Grade 3 reactions (considered severe) were experienced by 17.4%. This is 79X more likely than the incidence of severe Covid in the Moderna group." (source) That's from just one risk-benefit analysis. I'm not intending to hash it all out here... just wondering why the O's and MLB aren't showing more caution toward their valuable human assets, regarding this experimental gene therapy with such minimal possible benefit to the players.
If you cannot understand that the reward outweighs the risk in terms of vaccinating players, not only for the Orioles but for everyone, I don't know what to tell ya.

LOL. I am not, but I am a fan of the British being Santander fans.

He had the injury in September, it's almost April and has injury again
Perhaps sitting out isn't the answer
so.... playing with it is? Do you think he has a better chance of healing by playing with the strained oblique or sitting out with it?
P.S. I know/assume you're just being silly.

If he is released and we are bound to his current contract, I pick him up in a heartbeat. He hasn’t been that good the last few years but he just turned 27 and has big power for the position.
We should represent a good opportunity for him as he can play everyday and hit in a good park.
Agreed. .750 OPS in 2018, .722 OPS in 2019, so not great, but very likely better than what we currently have. According to BBRef, he was worth 1.8 dWar in 2018, but at 0 in 2019 and -0.4 last year.
-
I mean, we do need a second baseman, and he's probably better than Valaika and Urias. He also punched Jose Bautista in the face which was awesome. What do ya'll think?
-
starting again at 2B today, FWIW...

But wouldn't they have said something by now if it was an injury? Seems like something's up here. Or... the O's management just doesn't care enough to keep the remaining fans updated.

Is Mountcastle serious right now? That's a catchable ball and you make a horrible throw. This is a joke.
