Well, over his career he has not been average at third, he’s been horrible at third, and in today’s baseball environment, where everybody is heading 20 homeruns, it’s pretty easy to find guys with power and nothing else. Nunez hits pretty well, but he’s limited enough that a few games at third base, even if they are not his typical defense, won’t increase his trade value.
We have so many guys who do basically the same thing, with the same limitations, that it will be very interesting to see who we eventually end up keeping.
He looks terrible, but was actually around average last year. Hasn't been good this year, but has had very limited opportunities. That's why I think we may as well expand the sample size and see what he is capable of over a full month.

Nunez is a disaster at 3. He’s 1B/DH.
I think the Powers will choose a 1B and a DH from the crowd and get rid of the others.
Not sure who that will be, but they definitely won’t be keeping everyone.
Perhaps, but what's the harm in playing him there throughout September? His value increases immensely if he can be average at third.

I think this excellent article should be read by all as it's more than just about the interesting strides that Toby Welk has made, but the technologies and teachings that are now available to Orioles minor leaguers.
Meoli is the best. Love reading his stuff.

I have, just being more aggressive early in the count than in Bowie, but remember a .740 in the Eastern League is just as good as a .880 OPS in the International League given their respective run environments this year. So I'm not sure he's been notably better.
Luke - does the fact that Bannon is facing AAA pitching (ostensibly better than AA) affect your analysis?

Got you. Thanks Luke.

Good stuff! Luke-OH, have you watched any of Rylan's at bats in Norfolk? Do you see anything different, or is it just a SSS and good luck streak?
-
SSS, but real nice start for Bannon in AAA. 15-45 at the plate, two doubles today, homered last night, OPS in the mid .800s.
Need him to start walking down there, but he could play himself into the conversation for 2020 with a good finish in Norfolk. Still young, too.

He's certainly getting more tradeable.
This. 20 home runs, OPS over .800, and lots of steals. But he's gonna be on the downside of his career most likely when we are competing again. He should have some value in the off-season for a team looking for an average to slightly above average second baseman, which hopefully can lead the Orioles to two of a team's top 30 prospects or so.

5-5. Dang.... Hopefully we can get back to the consistency we saw throughout July and early August.
-
It would be monumentally stupid to let him go for nothing.

Inning should be over, but Orioles....

Well when you don’t play any real outfielders.
I do not understand the obsession with playing Peterson. Stewart should be playing every day.

That play is unreal.
It is one of many plays that could be a microcosm of the 2019 season. Beyond pathetic that the ball doesn't get caught.

Orioles do an Orioles thing. Pop up turns into two run double. Cool.

A pitcher should go but if not Rio Ruiz. I’d like to see this lineup,
Villar SS
Mancini 1B
Santander RF
Nunez DH
Peterson 3B
Alberto 2B
Sisco C
Stewart LF
Wilkerson CF
That’s a pretty solid lineup vs RHP
Agreed, though I would keep Rio over Peterson, since Rio at least has some shot of being part of the rebuild.

That is a head scratcher. If they are trying to make the playoffs at Bowie, why promote Kremer to AAA?
Because Kremer's development is more important than Bowie's playoff run.

2-4 with two doubles today. Up to a .776 OPS. Looks like the early season jitters may b hind him.
-
No, but the hope is that when Mountcastle, Hays, Diaz, and Rutschman (flanked by Mancini, Santander, Stewart (?)) are up, the offense will be good enough. Those guys, the AA guys, Hall, and Rodriguez, combined, will hopefully be good enough.

I'm not really into the whole Harry Potter thing but it is my understanding that the kid is athletic right? Right good hand at Quidditch I think it's called? Not nice to compare him to Davis.
He is athletic, solid seeker game, very good at catching the snitch. Competes well against higher end competition such as Draco Malfoy. Trained with Viktor Krum in the offseason... Plays well with Ron Weasley as keeper.

This has gotten beyond embarrassing. Save some face and don’t embarrass yourself or the Orioles franchise any more.
This franchise is broken with you under contract and cannot be fixed.
You owe it to the fans to at least change your batting stance or something, but this is beyond pathetic.
This franchise deserves better.
You don't like when he closes his eyes and strikes out on three pitches, the third of which being a slider or changeup that he waved at like Harry Potter?
-
OtherRipken, I appreciate your source and your comments, but I see no way the Baltimore Orioles lave Baltimore in either of our lifetimes. Especially with Camden still one of the jewels of all MLB ballparks.

Just leave them out there. (Actually if it's a starting pitcher I probably would)
If it's an SP maybe, but they have to fly back to Boston before the break. Wouldn't want to leave Trey or whomever out west and have him miss the Boston Series.
The lineup I want to see in September

By value, I mostly meant his value to the Orioles. I'd love it if Nunez could be our starting third baseman when we are good again.
