  1. Schoop hit his 23rd to put the Twins at 300 HR mark. Watching his upper cut swing and what would usually just be a fly ball out then sail out of the park and his slow, slow, slow trot, I felt two things....This homer happy, slow pitch softball game going on now is sickening to watch AND Schoop is hefty, hefty, hefty...moves like a slow bus.
  2. This is a reinforcing statement in negotiating a new lease for Camden Yards and it is sincere, I believe, as far as it goes. However, the statement cannot preclude a sale of the team after the old man passes if things were to change financially. But certainly as long as the Angelos family and sons own the team, they will certainly keep them in Baltimore.
  3. Trey will be even better next season....you heard it here first. He will turn into Paul Goldschmidt. And Trey has had a better season than Goldschmidt this year too.
  4. I doubt he will be spending any of his retirement in Baltimore.
  5. Adam Jones sitting out more often and he will become a free agent again and I think he gets zero offers this offseason. He did buy a 4 million dollar house the other day in Paradise Valley though.
  6. And they fired Andy Green too.
  7. Austin looking like that guy from 2017 more and more....playing hard and smoking the ball every where at the plate.
  8. Give us something else to cheer for and retire.
  9. Well with 8 games to go, Tigers have virtually cemented their position as number one pick as they are on a 4 game losing streak and we are 4 1/2 games back. We are in no danger of losing our number two slot as we are ahead of both Miami and Kansas City by a similar margin. So, number two it looks like it will be.
  10. Maybe he keeps being hot...maybe he gets to 40.
  11. So wonder if Hunter closes next year? Or opens?
  12. Certainly worth the risk against the Tigers for last place.
  13. Adam Jones now on the bench mainly. I would imagine it is an effort to avoid paying the contract incentives for games played. And probably Adam’s last month in the game. https://www.cbssports.com/fantasy/baseball/news/diamondbacks-adam-jones-losing-starting-role/
  14. I would shut him down. Just dumb to have him pitch through or after any kind of bicep discomfort at this point. Declare victory for this year in his development and work on strength, rehab as needed and offseason conditioning.
  15. Particularly since Mountcastle was a better hitter in the minor leagues than Santander was. What was Santander hitting in Norfolk before he was called up? I can’t ever recall a 22 year old Oriole getting the IL Player of the Year and our 46-96 sterling ballclub worries that he isn’t good enough for a trial??
  16. We did win the game, right? I mean I sort of enjoyed watching the kid battle a bit and if Fry comes in and Cabrera hits a grand slam, let’s say....whooo boy, the Hyde bashers would be having a field day. There are risks in whatever you do. The young man got hurt the last time when he was sitting in the dugout.
  17. The bigger question is whether ME has the kind of comfort level in relationship with the sons to have already addressed the issue even during an interview and to have a plan in place....namely ME saying...”We certainly can give him 2019 and see if he can recover any value because there is not going to be much blocked by that...but, I would feel you would want me always to be frank and tell you when he is blocking the rebuild and then you can decide what as ownership you want to do next.”
  18. If he doesn’t reasonably work on performance improvement, then if I were the team I would make the case to discipline and/or suspend him and obviate his deal. The team should require exactly what it wants to see him to do and if not, then discipline him accordingly. And if it made him miserable or hacked off, at this point, all the better.
  19. And your case would be totally without merit. I could make a much stronger case that the Davis offensive performance over the last two years is the worst in baseball history and on an “AB by AB basis” he is the worst offensive player in MLB and no one is close to second. He would have been released a year ago save for his contract but he is not a major league performer any longer.
  20. I believe he works hard but has no skills left at this level any longer.
  21. Sorry, but I am not blaming Chris one iota in this regard. He has the absolute right to continue with his contract and it is ONLY up to the ownership to decide what they wish to do with THEIR mistake. And if Chris somehow saves this ownership from the consequences of this mistake, then the following message gets transmitted to them and other owners about future mega contracts...namely, "worst case, we can likely publicly shame the player and get out of it, so let's go ahead and pull the trigger." Nope, if I am Chris Davis, I continue working as hard as I can at my profession until I am no longer employed by the Orioles. And, if I am not employed, then I expect them to live up to the contract. Period. Now if there is a mutually negotiated buyout and Chris just wants some public buyback to enhance his post Orioles remembrance by fans, then he will just have to decide how many millions of dollars he wants to give up to purchase that, but, I, for one, won't think any more or less of him if he does so. Because, for me, this deal is the legacy of Peter Angelos, only.
  22. I have watched some of his at bats on MLB TV recently. He seems much quieter than I remember seeing him in Sarasota. He seems more like Nick in his approach.
  23. I would just like to hear from somebody as to exactly what he has figured out...this is no Ryan Flaherty briefly being better. He may be one of those we look back on and say curse words.
  24. Sometimes it is what Lola wants that matters...check the souls on those guys..
