  1. We have seen this with every pitcher on this team .. starter sailing along then it seems they suddenly lose complete control of the strike zone
  2. Adrenaline .. brand new team .. but good to see ….
  3. Mateo needs to go ..he makes more bonehead errors in key situations than any shortstop in Os history
  4. Unbelievable… 58 years i have watched Os baseball and I have never seen that before.
  5. This is why it is tough to see Fuji as a high leverage guy. Half the time he has no clue where the ball is going.
  6. Adam Frazier has .981 OPS in 190 ABs this year with men on base. Good enough for me.
  7. Oops right … and they may seek to hire a division rival GM .. heaven forgive me!
  8. Media types love conflict .. so now there will be an echo chamber of “Orioles losers at deadline” rants. This guy is not even any good in the depth of his analysis. He would be less so than many OH posters. The only metric really is winning and so that guy can ramble on about the wonderful Rangers etc but we shall see who wins come October . We whipped Verlander and Scherzer when they were almost a decade younger lol. Justin and Max? Meet Gunnar and Adley.
  9. Something this guy is not short on is arrogance. His patronizing attitude towards Elias is hilarious and demeaning. As if Mike and his team are not only aware of every bit of his simplistic view but also add many years of real life, data driven decision making. Any individual decision he makes may or may not work and we fans can disagree as to what we might do… but it is not because Mike has not considered everything and more. And, as a psychiatrist, his referring to Mike’s “subconscious “ is what lay amateurs say when someone does something they disagree with lol .. it is hooey.
  10. But the question of course is only 2023. Cause he only has a 2023 deal. And the issue of rookies being better has to be balanced against the nonoroductive month or two that Adley, Gunnar, Colton have all showed. So Frazier for right now, for just the rest of 2023 is not an unreasonable choice. Plus he does do things in weird and pressure situations that pennant winners have..call it luck but all pennant winners have guys that perform unexpectedly in key moments.. Bucky Dent syndrome lol
  11. I think 5/100 would be reasonable for Anthony’s 30-35 year seasons. He had 2.1 WAR last year, is at 2.5 now .. lets say he averages 2-2.5 WAR during life of deal. This WAR salary Fangraphs article is 2021 but had 8.5 million per WAR in 2022 For 5 years even at that rate (probably more like 10 mil in 2024) it would be 85-106.5 million So yes for me https://blogs.fangraphs.com/what-are-teams-paying-per-war-in-free-agency/
  12. We do have guys now that can really carry the team when they get super hot … Mountcastle can, Santander has and can, Adley can, Gunnar can .. Frazier can … (just teasing the Adam bashers)
  13. It reminds me in that way of the 1979 team in particular.. hot streaky hitters and Earl getting them in and out over 162 games to get the most productive team
  14. It is pretty clear Elias could have said no obviously to the package but I don’t think he would have been successful sticking to just the two. And if he had given St Louis several to pick from as the third option, then obviously he couldn’t really say no when they accepted.
  15. Held out till like 10 minutes from the deadline? in fact, it probably got leaked out prematurely as just two guys because literally the last guy was not decided on till after it had already been leaked
  16. You wonder if the third guy was from a pool of several offered up by Elias .. i.e pick one of these to add in at your choice
  17. In that same 44 season , our team, the St Louis Browns , won their only pennant. They had been planning just prior to Pearl Harbor to move to LA but the war intervened. They signed 4F players more than any other team and won the pennant. In an all St Louis series, they lost in 6 games to that team who never lost a series. Ten years later? 33rd Street baby!!
