  1. I guess only 162-0 is enough for you?
  2. Sign me up. He’d add a premium DH and a premium SP. They’ve got the room in pay roll for it. That being said, ain’t happening
  3. If Mateo was utilized a bit differently, he could fit a very niche role very well. If he can play a passable CF then you’ve got the perfect 26th player. Defensive sub and pinch runner. The issue is that the O’s are playing him as if he is a starting SS. Yes, he fields the position well but he is pretty much useless with the bat. The best utilization would be to have him PR in a late and close game. A player with his speed is very useful on a team that wants to find whatever way they can to win games.
  4. Hey now, Mateo and Frazier’s proven record of sub-.700 OPS play is too high a bar to expect the rookies to overcome
  5. I’m curious to see how this is approached by Elias. The obvious answer is to option him to AAA, but he’s been a good major league player for a few years now and he still has potential. I feel like it’d be a Duquette/Buck era type move to put Mountcastle back at first despite everything because they’re loyal to what’s worked for them in the past. I’m hoping to see Elias take a more calculated approach where players aren’t just handed playing time based on tenure…but we’ve seen it happen already by Elias so who knows what will happen?
  6. Is it possible they could build a retractable wall that only comes up during the top half of an inning?
  7. Addition by subtraction is always a thing. If some bad relievers are being replaced by okay relievers, that’s still a step forward.
  8. If there’s any hope of catching the Rays then the O’s need to beat the Rays. Though, to win the AL East could imply that they’d line up at the No. 1 seed and the whole bye week thing doesn’t seem like a great idea in baseball. So I’d take the top wild card spot without any complaints.
  9. The man has diarrhea. Don’t wanna be on 2nd base pooping your pants in front of 30k people at Wrigley. Hyde made the right call
  10. They’re not all gonna work out…but damn it’d nice if one SP prospect would get it together.
  11. Obviously the answer is to sign both Yamamoto and Ohtani this offseason. If the Orioles can’t have local fans for whatever reason then they can be the biggest team of Japan.
  12. I’ve learn lots of little phrases here that might only exist in this tiny nook of the internet. “Turning back into a pumpkin” is pretty popular, though I guess I’ve only heard it used in relation to baseball here.
  13. The rotation would look a lot better with Kremer and Irvin fighting over the last spot. Doesn’t even have to be an ace. Id say a real good set up guy for the 7th would be nice too. Someone to basically be O’Hearn when O’Hearn inevitably turns back into a pumpkin would be cool too.
  14. Sure it is. Platoon him til it doesn’t make sense to do it anymore. Whether that’s because O’Hearn eventually stops hitting (this is a near certainty) or because Mountcastle is able to show some type of major improvement in his approach to warrant giving him another shot again righties.
  15. I don’t think you’re gonna get much for a first basemen that can’t hit righties, get on base, or play good defense. You may as well keep him to fit the role he is in. But a semi-permanent move has to be made. He can’t be in the lineup every day anymore. It’s beyond “bad luck”
  16. I think Elias will be a bit of both seller and buyer. I could see a scenario where he trades a lower level prospect for a reliever or bench player while also trading away an established player for prospects. Something like a trade of Urias or Frazier and letting Westburg take their place.
  17. I’d bring Cowser up to play RF, move Santander to DH. Keep Mountcastle out of the lineup, he can’t hit righties and Bassitt dominates righties…seems like a bad matchup.
  18. They’ve got the roster flexibility to have a strict platoon at 1B. Mountcastle has lost his chance at every day playing time.
  19. I do hear what you’re saying, but not everyone can be a star. We’ve got arguably the most shut down back end bullpen in the game, most of the starting lineup has an OPS+ over 100, we’ve got plus defenders all over the place. The only real weakness is the starting pitching.
  20. I’m confused…McCann is straight up terrible…in fact he is even worse than I expected him to be. Frazier is having one of the worst seasons of his career and it only doesn’t seem that way because he is doing better than his insanely bad 2022 season. O’Hearn doesn’t have much history whatsoever at the MLB level. You’re right about Hicks though
  21. Bautista is a safe bet. Possibly Cano. But would it be terrible of me to hope neither get in? They’re being used a whole lot and could use a break.
  22. I don’t know if there’s any credence in this notion but considering his initial diagnosis of myocarditis, I’d suspect it’d be a good idea to have him at a less demanding position. I don’t really know enough about the disease to say anything definitively but from my understanding it can be re-aggravated, there is no cure. Not a whole lot of running around at 1B, so a position move could just be preservation of health? I dunno, just speculating. I’m not a cardiologist.

    Cade Povich 2023

What’s going on with Povich? Three terrible starts in a row.
  24. I’d hope not. Goldschmidt is good but he’s a bit old and expensive. I’d say he’s worth maybe something like Norby or another redundant piece or low level guy, but Cowser would be a hard no from me.
