  1. I expect Mancini and Santander to be gone by the time the team is competitive again. I think an OF with Mountcastle, Hays, Diaz is the most likely future OF but if we’re lucky Mountcastle will be moved to 1B or DH once Mancini is gone and a better fielding LF ends up there. Maybe Kjerstad or Stowers? If Mullins figures it out he could push Hays to LF also. I think it will ultimately work itself out. I’m more worried about what the hell they do in the infield. Any potential impact prospect outside of Rutschman is too far away to even project possibly having a major league career. Just gotta hope at least one of Henderson or Westburg move quickly.
  2. The question is what would any of us prefer... One WS win in the ‘20s with the rest being non competitive (hovering around .500 most years but not making the playoffs) or... No WS win but let’s say 4 years of making the playoffs and 3 additional years of playing over .500 in the ‘20s....
  3. I highly doubt Elias is keen on trading anyone for a major league piece right now. Maybe next offseason?
  4. You act like Mullins hits like Chris Davis. He has value using the skill set I mentioned before. Again, not an every day starter but if he had to play for a couple weeks if someone is out for a short amount of time then I think he’d be fine. He’ll never be an All Star but 4th OF types never are.
  5. He can play above average defense, pinch run, and bunt. I’m not saying he is the best 4th OF in the world but he has plenty to offer a good team. He just isn’t an every day type of player. I feel like you’re being overly negative on his skill set.
  6. He’d be a 4th OF on a good team but this isn’t a good team and I don’t have any qualms seeing him out there if that means we’ve got some good defense. I’m biased though, I’ve always liked him as he was coming up through the system.
  7. A Hays, Mullins, Santander OF is actually pretty nice defensively. Put Mancini at 1B and Mountcastle at DH and maybe figure out something else for CF when playing a lefty and I feel like it’s a good approach. That all depends on how well Mullins can hit. I’d be okay with a low bar set for him offensively though as long as his defense is above average.
  8. Yeah, me too if it were a waiver claim. Not if we have to give up anything though.
  9. I’d rather play Martin full time than send any level prospect for a not so great SS who is entering arbitration. With that being said, I’d welcome the idea if we were to claim him and get him for nothing.
  10. I like the idea of a trade for Chisholm but I don’t think we’d get much more in return other than him
  11. I highly doubt anyone in our 10-20 prospect range is going to net a major league difference maker.
  12. I think it’s best to wait out a few of our current top prospects to see what we’ve got and go from there. If we were to build a potentially competitive team now it’d be from the ground up. We’ve literally got nothing to feel confident in building around yet. Let’s see how Rutschman, Rodriguez, Hall, Hays, Diaz etc look this time next year and go from there.
  13. “Plenty of depth” is quite a rosy look. We’ve got some pieces we could trade but then the farm would be barren yet again. You’re a couple years too soon IMO
  14. 99.68% is specific ? Anyways, I agree on the veteran starter front. I don’t think they bring back Alberto though and as for a starting SS...everything would have to go right. I think a minor league depth signing is more likely.
  15. I think with Mancini working back after what he went through that it’s tough to gauge what type of player he’ll be. It wasn’t just a year with no baseball. I think that effects his value negatively but when you combine his unfortunate diagnosis, the fact that he seems to be a hard working and easy to root for type of guy, and that he seems to have that chapter of his life behind him it makes for a great comeback story and worth keeping him just to see him play baseball with a F U C K cancer attitude.
  16. For whatever reason I always had high hopes for Mullins. So far it’s been pretty disappointing but I’m glad the organization seems to be giving him every chance to succeed. A switch hitting center fielder with good speed and defense is a fun player to have around if they can get on base. Definitely a fourth OF on a good team but I would be happy with that if that’s what he ends up being.
  17. It’s memorable but I don’t think it’s necessarily funny. It was like a scene from bad news bears with absolutely no exaggeration outside of the fact that he is not a child.
  18. Stewart has had more than one ugly looking play in the OF. In my mind he is strictly a DH and the only benefit he may have going forward is that he bats from the left. Same goes for Shaw though. I’m hoping 2021 helps determine whether one will stick around but I have my doubts.
  19. I expect Hays overall work to be significantly better than Santander over the next 4-5 years. Ask me again next year if Santander shows last year wasn’t an outlier.
  20. Mountcastle, Rutschman, Hays...players that project to be successful in the majors and all coming up around the same time. Santander had a nice year last year but very easily could be an outlier and if he does it again then maybe it’s someone you consider keeping long term but at the same time if he does keep performing well then by the time the team is competitive again he will not only be getting expensive, there will hopefully be a plethora of players just coming into their own at the same positions. And I’m not dead set on wanting to see him traded or anything. I’m going off what I expect Elias to do. He has shown no reason for me to believe he won’t cash in on the value of a player during this rebuild. If Santander ends up being a good player consistently and we end up with an OF it Santander, Hays, Diaz, and Mountcastle in 2022 then I won’t be complaining.
  21. There’s a good chance his value will never be higher than it is this off season. Considering Santander is likely not a piece you build around and Elias has shown a penchant to trade/release players even when it’s unpopular I think there is a chance he’s dealt. If I had to guess then I think it happens at the trade deadline or next off season but it certainly wouldn’t be surprising to me to see him traded now. It’s not like the roster isn’t overflowing with outfielders anyways.
  22. This is just a thought exercise right? No way in a million years do the 2021 O’s take on a big contract. And the only way that happens is if Davis is somehow involved and let’s face it, we couldn’t give Davis away even if we paid the entire contract. Would I welcome it? Sure, it’d be fun and I’d love to see what we could possibly get back in a trade. But for real, you gotta be stoned to entertain the idea with any seriousness.
  23. Yeah, doesn’t make sense. I think Elias may have outsmarted himself. It may have seemed worth the risk but even now an hour or so post-draft it appears there has been a dumb mistake. I don’t think it’ll end up being anything too consequential but I would bet that Pop has a better MLB career than our two rule 5 picks combined.
