Technically nearly all #1 picks are underslot, but Holiday isn’t an underslot deal, he was going in the next pick or two regardless, and he’ll get most of the slot

Holliday isn’t going to get overshot, but he’s not really an underslot guy. I like the pick, SS is more value then cf

The question on Gunnar at SS tended to be that evaluators were worried that he would slow down as he matured/filled out, and would lose the range needed to play SS. At the moment though, it's fairly clear he has more then enough speed, and currently he has the ability to play a ML SS. If he slows down a few years from now, and can't do it anymore, worry about it then.

It would not surprise me if the Orioles had Lee ranked above Jones

For me it's part of the argument for Holiday over Lee or Johnson, BUT it's also why I don't discount Lee or Johnson, especially when comparing to Jones. And why I'd be fine with taking Holiday over Jones as BPA (and fine with the reverse as well, or any of the other players mentioned)

I'm curious if a photo of the Orioles draft board was leaked, and it had Lee (or Johnson, Holiday, anyone not Jones) ranked as the top prospect. Who would you all want them to take? Is it still Jones, or is it who they see as the best player?

The thing with both Lee and Holiday (and Johnson) is that even if they can’t play SS, they’re still going to play a premium defensive position in 2b/3b. I think people are underrating those positions defensively, especially when compared to how they feel about CF
