    Paul Fry

This series was why I was in favor of trading any of the bullpen arms if the right deal was there.
  2. I heard that the interim GM would rather have the comp pick if the deal wasn't good. The Arenado deal didn't go over well and they didn't want the Story deal to end up the same if fans thought they got a poor return again.
  3. Disappointed perfectly sums it up for me as well
  4. https://twitter.com/LockedOnOrioles/status/1421156088104329218?s=19 Will this be the biggest news of the day?
  5. I've seen Fry, Scott and Tate mentioned in rumors, but not on MLBTR, only Twitter. I'm starting to think it'll be pretty quiet for us today.
  6. Can't see not getting a major leaguer or major league ready player being something that would stop a trade for Mancini. If he gets an offer he's happy with and all the players are in A ball I'd hope he makes the deal.
  7. Who all is left that has been rumored, Gibson, Gray, Pineda, Davies, Cobb, Hendricks? I'm sure I'm missing some names, but still a lot of guys left. I would hope that a package similar to Berrios would sway Elias. They got two top 5 guys in return, I'd be pretty happy with that considering how Means has pitched in his rehab and ML games since coming back from injury.
  8. I'd be interested in a move like that as long as we didn't have to give up a lot to make it happen, especially if we're eating all or most of Hosmer's contract. My only real issue with it would be where to find ABs for Mancini, Mountcastle and Hosmer, because Hosmer will be in the lineup with that contract. Yes Mountcastle and Mancini can play OF, but do we really want to put them out there on an everyday basis. Mancini could also be traded before the deadline, but I'm thinking that isn't very likely to happen at this point.
  9. I think it is as well. I was all for moving him before his DL stint, even more now.
  10. I never said we need him in 2023, I said this is a move you make in 2023. If we aren't contending or close then I still wouldn't make the move then either. Not having him long enough is definitely part of it as well. His contract is up in 23, and I probably wouldn't be too comfortable with giving him a big contract after that at 31.
  11. Marquez would be a MUCH better move than Ramirez. He’s younger and a pitcher, which I think would benefit us a whole lot more.
  12. This is exactly why it wouldn't be smart to make this move now. Cleveland will want a ton for him with 2 years of control left. The conversation to get him will start no lower than Hall, and will need multiple pieces on top of that, way too high of a price for a rebuilding team to pay. This is a move you make in 2023 when we are ready to contend, not for a few extra wins now and name recognition on the ML roster.
  13. I don't necessarily mind acquiring a piece early, but it has to be the right piece, and I don't think Ramirez is it, neither is Hosmer or any other big contract "name". Anyone that could significantly help this team and also be a part of the future isn't available, or won't be cheap if they are. We need to continue building towards 2023 and beyond, 2-3 extra wins this year and next doesn't really get us anywhere.
  14. I definitely think it significantly weakens the system to trade any of the guys in our top 5 right now. Can we recover from trading Hall, Henderson or whatever it would take, absolutely, but Ramirez doesn't improve the ML team enough to make that trade this deadline. Ramirez is a piece you add when we are ready to compete, to help hopefully put the team over the top to contention, not to simply put a bigger name on the field to maybe make us more watchable, which I don't think Ramirez does.
  15. I gotta disagree with you on this, at least as far as trading for Ramirez. I think it would significantly weaken the farm to acquire him, while making the ML team only slightly better, definitely not enough to make the trade worth it IMO. You'd absolutely have to give up either Hall or Henderson to start and then go from there, probably another top 15 guy if not another top 10. The only way to build that pipeline after making that trade, is to trade other guys on the ML roster. Whether that's the relievers, Mancini, Mullins or Means doesn't really matter, but then you weaken the ML roster, so it kinda defeats the purpose of acquiring Ramirez in the first place. I'm all for improving the ML roster, but I don't think it's the right time to weaken the farm for a marginal upgrade.
  16. I like Ramirez but I think Cleveland would want more than I'd be willing to give up for him at this point. Pittsburgh got a top 5 prospect and filler from SD for Frazier, and I think it would take more than that to get Ramirez, IMO he's better than Frazier.
  17. I think I'd be pretty happy if we can get a top 10 guy for Scott, especially if it comes from a deeper farm like Seattle or San Diego.
  18. I'm all for moving on from the majority of the OFers we currently have besides Mullins and Hays, and if the right deal came along I'd move both of them, especially Mullins while he's at or close to peak value. It would be interesting if they could make a deal with Seattle and get Noelvi Marte and Zach DeLoach.
  19. I'm thinking pretty similar. I could see Fry, Sulser, Scott and possibly Tate being moved, but I honestly don't see Mancini, Means or Mullins going anywhere at the deadline.
  20. There is zero value with any of those three right now. Diaz would have value but he can't stay healthy long enough to build any, and if he could he would probably be on the ML roster right now replacing Stewart. Bannon has had an absolutely terrible year after being hurt, so whatever value he had isn't there at the moment. You may be able to add Stewart or Bannon to a bigger deal as filler, but I can't see any GM trading anything of value for them straight up, not even a lottery ticket type.
  21. That's the same thing I want, a consistent pipeline of talent that gives us a chance to contend consistently. I'm all for moving on from guys like Valaika, Wilkerson, Severino, etc, but IMO they have zero value, and probably they only way we can move them is to add them as a spare part in a bigger trade. Getting a big name, big contract guy just to get rid of them isn't the way to go though, and I can't see it making this team more watchable.
  22. You may be able to trade them, but getting a decent player probably won't happen, regardless of contract. As much as I enjoy watching guys like Miggy and Votto or any other big contract player I can't see it making us more watchable, at least it wouldn't make me watch more, we'd still be terrible, but just have a bigger more expensive name on the team.
  23. I'd say no we probably won't have any interest. I'd much rather have him as a 4th OFer than Stewart though.
  24. I honestly don't think we could give away most of the guys you mentioned, let alone get anyone in return that would be any type of improvement. I think it's best to just release the majority of them or put them through waivers, and if someone claims them oh well. Some like Franco and Harvey are only on 1 year deals anyway so that will open some spots as well.
  25. I don't really see the benefit of running Valaika and other similar guys like Wilkerson out there year after year is, give the younger guys a shot at this point. The team is absolutely terrible and has been since 17, I'd much rather see Jones get a shot than watch Valaika every day. Is Jones fielding really that much worse than Valaikas hitting.
