Not watching on TV but seems like the Yankees are hitting rockets everywhere and Means is a lucky duck so far. What's happening? No movement on his pitches today? Yankees just guessing right?

Judging a pitcher based on how they do against the Yankees gives you a pretty distorted view. If Lopez pitches like he did Monday night against the Mariners or Royals or whoever he'll eat up some innings, which is his purpose. Anyway, if John Means can be a stopper tonight I think you'll take 4-2 on a road trip through Boston and New York.

Would he have pulled in the Judge HR? I refuse to watch it but I understand it was a Yankee Stadium cheapie?

If Ryan McKenna is too fragile to make his debut against the Yankees' fifth starter he shouldn't be in the organization. Having said that, I said that Santander should have sat against Cole since you have to think that game is a likely L anyway.

The bullpen right now is not versatile. You have Tate and Scott to mix and match with in the late innings, Valdez to close, and basically four longmen/mopup guys that you ideally want to hand a clean inning to. That leaves Armstrong. There's just no good option when it's only the fifth inning but it's high leverage. Should Hyde have planned for this? Maybe. We know that Lopez is not effective when hitters see him for the third time. With that in mind I don't think he should have faced Judge and maybe not even LeMahieu. Putting in Armstrong with two out and and only one on at least gives him room to nibble while he feels his way back. People are saying you have to let Lopez "learn" to escape his own messes as if he's a young guy who projects as a frontline starter, but I think he kinda is what he is and you be content with 4 2/3 IP out of him.

Are there really three pages of second guessing from a game where the Orioles scored no runs? I don't think different bullpen usage would have been a big help.

I like to think the rebuild is far enough along that if you're going to trade Santander you target a position of need in the organization (3B) with someone who's ready to debut there in 2022 or hold out for a really top-flight prospect rather than more prospect depth. Does Santander fetch that?

Anybody else get little pleasure watching the Orioles play in Yankee Stadium? The strikeout whistle, the run-scoring chimes, the "roll call", it's just so much obnoxiousness coming from a situation where the odds are stacked against the O's to begin with. A win there is sweeter than a win anywhere else but I'd just as soon follow it on my phone than deal with the sensory torture of YS baseball.

That's a pretty bad lineup. If you're going to sit Santander, punt the Gerrit Cole game, IMO.

I think people are burying the Red Sox a bit prematurely. They have Rodriguez coming back to their rotation soon, and eventually Sale. There are good reasons to question whether those guys will the same pitchers they were pre-injury, but if they are effective, that's a pretty good rotation given how Eovaldi and Houck were throwing. The one guy the Orioles teed off on was a very expensive lottery ticket who could be off the roster by May.

Not gonna lie, that's a scary, scary lineup. No annoying Brett Gardner, though.
