Lol, I am not against metrics, I am against using small sample sizes to pretend Akin is good. 4 outs or not, good pitchers don't get themselves in those situations, and find a way to get out of them when they do.

5/25, 5-3 comeback win @ CWS. Santander and O'Hearn had big bombs to turn the game around, but my gameball goes to Tate. On a day the bullpen needed to cover five innings, Tate covered 2.1 innings himself. Fresh off his option assignment, he bailed Akin out of further trouble and was perfect with 4 K's. Dominant performance.

Perez would not have been my bullpen bingo choice for the save and he made it interesting but got it done! Tate came up huge. Hopefully the "Akin is our best reliever" narrative can finally be put to rest.

Suarez was toast. Akin has to pitch sometime and this was a perfect situation for him, he just sucks as he always does. The choices were Akin, Webb, Tate, and Perez. Not much for Hyde to work with there to cover five innings.

I'd say Kimbrel Cano and Coulombe are all about equal. Webb is OK. Akin is level below.

Yeah, the Kremer injury brings us back to five unless both Suarez and Irvin stick in the rotation. It seems like more of a modified five man rotation until the rotation gets set. Bullpen will be interesting today with Cano, Coulombe, and Kimbrel all having pitched back to back. Akin fans could get to see him in a big spot.

Santander has 101 OPS+. Not what you want from a defensively challenged RF but far from black hole in the current environment. Of course Mullins and Hays are doing their part to drag down the environment and make Santander look good.

As I acknowledged the season isnt over. The claim I responded to was that KC is *below* HOU and TEX. If you want to put them all in a category of teams who have not been eliminated, sure.

5/24/2024 @ CWS, 6-4 win. Cowser literally got the gameball for the home run robbery on the final play but I'm giving it to Santander for grinding out a big walk and then scoring from first on Adley's clutch hit to get a key insurance run.

Akin has had a nice start but long ways to go before I'm calling him the best in the pen.
