  1. Wife just asked an important question. Do they stop / pause the game for on field ceremonies if Judge hits 62 tonight? God, I hope not. Especially if the Orioles are in the lead. It's an AL record, not a MLB record.
  2. Hate to see a Britton injury. I still remember him fondly. That said, he nearly "hit the bull" on that pitch.
  3. Me in kitchen: "Has Judge come up to bat again?" Wife: "I don't know." Me: "It's easy to tell. He's the only giant on the field." Seriously, though. If I had his body, I could probably hit 48 HR a year. But I'm 60 years old.* * a recycled Harmon Killabrew joke.
  4. Reminds me of the year that a 3 game interleague sweep by Diamondbacks (maybe a Jim Johnson implosion for two of them - looked it up - O'Day gave up the walk-off hit in the opener) were the margin that kept the O's out of the postseason. Maybe 2013? Looks like it was 3 walk-off losses. https://eu.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/diamondbacks/2013/08/14/aaron-hill-arizona-diamondbacks-baltimore-orioles-walk-off-sweep/2657883/
  5. Forgot that today was a day game. Turned it on just in time to see all of the top of the 9th with those horrible outside pitches called strikes. Thanks for ruining what was previously a nice afternoon.
  6. Thanks for this. I was in fourth row watching him pitch, but had I typed or taken notes, I'd have had my head down the and missed most of it! It's why I've sort of given up on the game threads. More typing than viewing. I did notice that he works very quickly, which I enjoy seeing. As for Garcia, he was the embodiment of the human rain delay. Took forever getting settled in the batter's box. And took a stance so far out of the on deck circle than McSweeney complained to the ump late in the game that he was only yards from the current batter. Very annoying.
  7. I saw the last two Tides games, Sunday in Durham and tonight in Norfolk. Cowser hit a bomb on Sunday in a losing effort, and two hits tonight. And Westburg hit a bases loaded double, scoring three runs in the 8th.
  8. We try not to talk about Judge in our house. We've decided he's a giant and should be disqualified. Tonight's conversation went like this: Me: "So did what his name get his thing?" Wife: "No"
  9. 4th inning I think. https://i.imgur.com/zGhbdGK.jpg https://imgur.com/a/T7SVRIW
  10. Done for night. Cano on mound for 6th.
  11. Grayson through 5. 89 pitches.
  12. Interesting. I do know that the Norfolk Tides website (top left) still has him listed as the probable starter tonight in Norfolk. https://www.milb.com/norfolk as of 4:15pm, about two hours prior to game time in Norfolk. I'm there to see him pitch.
  13. They have 3 games left at home this week. The games in Durham were their last road series. I caught game 6 which they lost 8-2. I think Durham has almost clinched the division, but I'd like to see The Tides one more game.
  14. I'm going to be near Norfolk today (Monday) and it seems to be Grayson's turn in the rotation. If it's indeed posted and confirmed somewhere, I may stay overnight and catch the game.
  15. Following the game on Gameday while at The Tides game in Durham. My two daughters. The oldest pointed out she’s wearing an Orioles promotion cap Weams or @justD gave her.
  16. And four more the rest of the way to a winning record for 2022. I felt (and said) it could be done when they still had to win 6 of 16. Just when the team seems to have bottomed out vs. Tigers, they do some surprising things, Lyles and Bradish turn in those stellar starts. Can't count them out. I just want to see 82 wins. I picked them for 76 at the start of the season, so they've already exceeded my expectations.
  17. All I have is that they're humans and not machines. Seems like an obvious answer, but one that's pretty much overlooked in the course of a 162 game season.
  18. Hate I missed this one. Had tickets to Sarah Borges and Eric Ambel in Carrboro. But checked the score periodically. I was skeptical that the two run lead would not hold. I was totally wrong. Finally got to the car and the WBAL broadcast in the bottom of the 9th. Stellar pitching performance. And Odor with the 2 RBI that made the difference. Not what I'd have expected.
  19. And I was sort of scoffed at in the game thread the day before by pointing our the O's only needed to win 6 of the final 16 to finish above .500. Now it's just four more wins. Playoffs? A distant dream. One game over .500. Doable!
  20. Thanks! It's a Weaver-Palmer bobblehead combo. And that guitar on the wall is what I call a "Birdcaster". A friend of mine who used to live in Baltimore years ago mailed it to me when she moved to Maine. According to Ebay, it appears to be from 2004.
  21. I only joined in the 7th inning. But I found it quite good. I was hoping Jim was gonna join in on the Earth, Wind and Fire song. That was in his wheelhouse, being relatively young when it was a hit. Not a bad job by Kevin, though.
  22. Like eddie83, I had stuff going on. Incredibly busy week. Even missing five chances to see Tides in my hometown of Durham this week. But while I enjoy the game threads (and I made an effort to be here more this year in memory of my friend ScOtt), I do find I end up watching my computer more than the game. That's not what I want. It's an art trying to be active on game threads and seeing the game at hand. Hats off to you guys who seem to manage it. Exhibit A: I missed that Mountcastle grab while typing this. And almost missed Stowers' nice game ending grab. I do have a nice setup, but I hate missing action by typing or reading.
  23. Prior to tonight's game, they only had to win 6 of 16 to make it to 82 wins. I'm feeling deflated, but I still think they can make that.
  24. I get it. It's been painful lately. What I was trying to illustrate was that I had a whole week of opportunities to see some of the better Tides prospects in Durham, (missing Grayson tomorrow due to my schedule). I had been looking forward to going for months. But by the time Sunday's 1pm game comes, the only game of the six I can go to, they may play the reserves. I wasn't thinking about the 40 man roster, or critical thinking or baseball strategy. But more accurately just my bad luck. And the 27th out.
