Several of these guys are already on MLB orgs staff/payrolls. I'd say a1/3 to 1/2 have someone from Driveline or the Ranches. Several MLB pitching coaches are Ranch guys.
It’s another area where the Birds were way behind the curve.

What makes you believe over the course of 162 games, he can actually stay healthy to see if there are positive results? That's my question. Second, Means went to Driveline last year around this time and saw his ERA, FIP, and HR/9 (doubled 2019) all rise. Although there was a slight positive trend in H/9, BB/9 and SO/9 for whatever that is worth.
Means went to P3 in Kansas City btw. This style of pitching training tends to lead to healthier pitchers based on what I’ve read.

Here is his MLB.com card from 2017
He has pretty average stuff!
He started working with P3 after the 2018 season.

Maybe you guys are being too tough in your definition of TOR. What do you consider Dallas Keuchel to be? His fastball doesn’t overwhelm anyone yet he’s won 20 games and a Cy Young, and has had a 21.9 rWAR career through age 32. To me he has been a TOR starter.
I would say the top 60 or so starters in MLB are TOR.

Yeah ... Unless he develops Greg Maddux like control there isn't a chance that Means has the stuff to be a TOR. Now that doesn't mean he can't be a number 1 starter here for a while until guys like G Rod get here.
I think it depends on what he does this winter. If he is still working on pitch design he can keep improving his pitches and create new ones. If he doesn’t go back to P3, who knows.

It feels kind of nice that other teams want Orioles players.

Oh and by the way this “Draft League” idea seems kinda dumb. It’s kinda like an Arizona fall league but for guys who aren’t drafted yet. I give it a coin flip that it will succeed. That being said I’m sure they are thrilled the #1 attendance Carolina League team will be part of it, maybe even anchor it.
It depends on what you think the role of MLB should be. I think it is good for baseball as a sport to have these players using wood bats and competing against a more consistent talent base. Would be even better to see a league like this sponsored by MLB on every continent.

Also talks about baseball is still fun for him.
That’s too bad.

The Orioles and Tigers are the only teams without a projected good player is what stands out to me.

Chris Davis hit 50 HRs one year. He's left handed

Cumberland already played at Bowie in 2019. I would think he would move to AAA. Elias needs to add a second catcher at AA. I hope AR is not there all season.
You think Wynns or Davis is at AA instead?

Probably catchers Wynns and Cumberland at Norfolk, if Cumberland is not picked in the Rule 5 draft.
I would have thought Wynns and Taylor.

Cumberland I assume

Is there a list of O's minor leaguers who are eligible to be drafted in the rule 5 this week?
This is pretty accurate usually:

The most impressive part of this thread is the 2am find/post and the 3am response. This place really is around the clock.
I was surprised how many other people were on here last night at that time. It was great.

The Yankees have had some good farm systems though. Of the top 100 on the list of 450 from 2000-14, you can find Yankee teams at nos. 19 (2007), 37 (2001), 43 (2008), 47 (2005), 73 (2003), 80 (2004), 82 (2006) and 84 (2009). That’s impressive when you consider how low they were drafting. The top two homegrown players in that era were Cano (68.9 rWAR) and Gardner (42.8). I suspect if one looked at where else the value came from, a disproportionate amount was international signings.
The Yankees also were right behind the Astros in implementing cutting edge PD techniques in the not so distant past. Coincidentally the timing coincided with the Orioles not winning any more. There is a nice section on it in the book The MVP Machine. Elias and Mejdal speak really opening about the differences in PD between the Orioles and Astros. Baumann and Means also speak to the authors.

Wouldn’t mind him as the short side of a platoon with Ruiz and occasional fill in at 2B if Sánchez or Iglesias need days off.
They both hit lefties significantly better than righties.

A new stat is born. How bad is this player, based on the CD (Chris Davis) scale. Player X had a miserable year and put up a 0.5 CD.
That is exactly what I was doing in my head as I read it

I think Mullins not making the OD 26 man roster is very, very unlikely. Hyde loved what he did in center last year. Mullins was 305/348/448/796 vs right handed pitching last season. That is a good leadoff hitter vs righties.
I liked what he did in center as well, but would like a lead off hitter that gets on base batter than he has. Even his SSS splits vs. RHP from last year aren't impressive. That said when he is playing well, I really enjoy watching him.

Right now I don't see room for Stewart on the OD roster. He will be at AAA is my guess. If Mancini, Mountcastle of Santander get injured, Stewart would play a bigger role.
Here is a configuration that gets him there: https://www.fangraphs.com/roster-resource/depth-charts/orioles

If we didn't have Davis on the roster, I might not have so much of a problem with it. Davis brings far less to the table than Nunez. So what if we had three 1B/DH? Injuries happen. Keep him till Opening Day. Maybe one of them becomes valuable in a trade for a contender that needs a bat or has an injury. I also don't think I would keep Wynns over him and maybe a couple of the middle relief pitchers.
Hopefully they think Nevin and Diaz are ready to move up. I would have gotten rid of someone like Sulser first if they just wanted a roster spot

A take on Keegan Akin

I hope he is more focused on pitch design if he has two really good pitches. A third pitch would be huge.
