  1. Yea his delivery is a thing of beauty. And likewise with Mayo’s swing. We took two guys who already look like they have big league fundamentals. And athletically, both very much ‘look the part.’ I’m very intrigued by these two picks.
  2. Oh I agree I don’t think it’s a very defensible position whether it’s an Elias decision or an Angelos one
  3. Agreed. But why is it so hard to believe that an analytics driven pragmatic regime would determine that with the lack of info on all of these guys due to covid that it’s simply not worth the risk?
  4. Seems pretty clear to me that Elias has either decided not to spend all the slot money on this draft or has been mandated not to
  5. Great perspective. Thank you. And I love the fire! The pick is growing on me as well.
  6. Yea, it's the hands dropping I think. He does have serious bat speed and looks like he really gets good loft, but I'm worried and pissed. Plus he doesnt seem like he'll add any value in the field. Here's hoping he can even stick in the outfield. I'm baffled.
  7. Pissed as well. Kjerstad's swing looks like it has a really odd timing mechanism where he dips his hands very low. If he doesn't fix it he'll get hammered up and in.
  8. Ya I don’t think it is. No one is willing to make a concession. MLB will not concede full prorated pay and mlbpa will not accept anything less it seems. AND they just proposed a longer season than the proposal before.
  9. But definitely not a 'hary.' Yes perhaps, though each case is different, and it will depend on how fast Veen develops. Some reports say he made strides from last year to this, so maybe he's quick. Manny was only in the minors for two years before being 'ready.' But bottom line for me if I'm a scout: If I think two or more players have the same liklihood of reaching their ceilings (however high they may be) I'm taking the one with the highest ceiling every time, regardless of how long it will take him to be ready. Add in the fact that we can save money with Veen, and I'm liking him more every day. Ultimately I'll be excited about whoever we pick though, unless it's Hancock, whom I have reservations about due to his performance this season and the spin rate on his fastball.
  10. Glad someone else made this comparison. I have been thinking of Martin as our potential version of Bregman for some time now.
  11. Looking at Veen’s tape and his scouting reports, I don’t see how he’s not in play. And I wonder, if he had a full season this year to prove himself, if he’d have been more of a consensus at 1 even due to the plus defensive value he adds. I think he’s really good and the more I read about him, the more I also like him for us at 2.
  12. I like the position we’re in a lot. I’d be very excited about any of the top 4 guys on that board.
  13. I’ll have a hard time justifying spending any time, let alone money, on the sport if they can’t reach an agreement on a season. It would be a travesty and a death sentence for MLB as we know it. No reason to assign any blame either, it doesn’t matter. Myself and countless other fans will be lost. Will I go so far as to say I’ll be lost forever? No I love the sport too much, but boy is it broken right now.
  14. Yea I imagine morning, afternoon and night games. As many as four games a day in a single Stadium perhaps? Not sure how long grounds crew would need to get the field game-ready after a game, but I think with no fans it would be a short turn around.
  15. Yes of course. That will be such a relief when it happens. But you wouldn’t have to go anywhere to watch our Orioles on your television.
  16. The non-monetary value of increased national morale is not to be undervalued, my friend.
  17. They are close I think, and I would be pumped if we added either player. And completely disregarding defense is a dangerous game.
  18. I also want to put Gonzalez over Martin, but if Martin is available at 2 I think he would be the pick assuming they think he can play somewhere up the middle. I believe he offers significantly more value with the glove. I love me some Nick Gonzalez though and see him as the next Keston Hiura.
