I know he’s not really an “ex Oriole,” but they also recently got Yermin Mercedes. It’ll be interesting to see how he is used. He was sent to AAA as soon as he was acquired, but there might be an opening due to Crawford possibly getting hurt.

Went 3-4 and fell a triple short of the cycle. Giants ended up winning 12-10 and he had an RBI double too.

I’ve wondered how much were the catchers and how much were the pitchers the last few seasons. I think Orioles pitching is better this season, which is making the catchers look good too. I think pitchers the last few seasons made some look worse. Small sample size: Wynns is the only catcher of the last few seasons in the MLB right now that isn’t suspended. Before the Giants got him, they had zero shutouts. In 5 games he has started behind the plate, they’ve had 2 shutouts. I wonder how much the new pitching philosophy of “throw it over the plate” is impacting things?

“If” the Orioles like what they have in Maverick, then he “should” go to the AFL this year and see how he does against some higher competitors, while also getting some additional teaching. The question mark is Cumberland. While nothing has been impressive about him, does the org value him more? Does he get a shot at being Adley’s backup next season or do they go with a veteran and have Maverick in AAA, working with the pitchers more until later in the season?

Bat has cooled off a bit after taking a Trea Tuner backswing to the head the other night, but a nice pick and tag here on the throw. Giants ended up winning by 2.

Could be taking over Akin’s spot, which would clear up a question I had. We know Baumann, Stowers, and Bemboom are also on the Taxi Squad, but that doesn’t mean all, or any, will be used.

That’s the part I’m unsure about. It mentioned pitchers but the example was a starting pitcher from earlier in the year. So I’m unsure if relief pitchers are included. -

Not sure how update this is, so feel free to correct it if needed: - For the Toronto series, any player(s) not vaccinated will go on the “Restricted List” and come off the 40. However, any player can replace them on the 40 and be sent back to the Minors after the series and taken off the 40 without the need for any DFA moves. - Any pitcher who has thrown within 3 days of the Toronto series is ineligible for the list, as a method to keep a team from using this as a way to gain a fresh arm. *Note: I do not know if this applies to ALL pitchers or just a starting pitcher* Should be interesting to see the moves. -
Wynns with 2 more hits tonight (one against Kershaw.) He also faced another former Oriole, Evan Phillips. Phillips won that battle with a strike out.
