  1. Did you watch the podcast that was posted on the minor forum of the Os top 15? While it was obviously speculative regarding all these guys, they definitely raised red flags about his ability to hit velocity. Hopefully he will appease those fears this year.
  2. I agree with this….if you have the $constraints lifted this is the way to go….and this is how you make a splash. Plus it allows you (hopefully) to clear some of these guys off the roster and thus giving them a chance somewhere else.
  3. 100% agree…lock up homegrown studs and subsidize as needed.
  4. I saw a comment maybe 100 pages back lol that stated that these free agent contracts don’t change the value of Cease via trade, but they definitely do. This guy is gonna be dirt cheap for 2 years compared to the market, and he will most likely out produce guys that are going to make 20 + per….Im starting to come around to the idea that Getz isn’t as crazy as we on here are making him out to be.
  5. One thing to consider regarding Kremers value and ability to be replaced: if he were on the open market this year what would he receive? Looking at the contracts given out, my guess is he is a 16-18 mil a year guy for multiple years. So having him for what we have him for seems actually pretty great value.
  6. The key for me in that is would they do Santander 1 of our 4-8 guys 1 of our next level guys DSL guy Does that get there?
  7. I would say it might actually make them more likely to do it. When you’re all in, you’re all in.
  8. Thanks for sharing. Reading this article gave me two thoughts: 1. Elias and his team really know what they are doing, and it makes me feel good about prospect sustainability moving forward. 2. Even more reason to trade for a “right now” starter.
  9. Using Tony’s language, he seems like his ceiling is second division starter, which certainly has value. Wonder what other teams see as his value.
  10. I guess my point is he has nothing to gain by saying this except not putting him on the roster and pissing everybody off. To me, at this point if he plays well in spring training he will make it. Now defining “well” is probably the next thing to figure out.
  11. As close to the vest as Elias is, I don’t see how this benefits him unless it is the truth.
  12. Well if that indeed is true, that would make a significant impact on what they did this off-season as far as trades. That definitely frees up tradeable MI.
  13. I also don’t think age matters that much here…you are done with both of them after their current contracts.
  14. That would certainly be interesting info to know for sure. A similar wonder would be does our development team have the reputation yet to make these guys more desirable?
  15. If Basallo turns out to be what Tony is predicting, you don’t trade that.
  16. I wonder if any other team site has forum topics about Rule 5….seems a pretty Oriole thing to discuss.
  17. This was the exact book on Bedard until it wasn’t. Truth is we really don’t know. They have a pretty similar repertoire.
  18. Yeah that is true. I guess my point is that I expect Ortiz and Westburg to stay and Urias and Mateo to go.
  19. I actually don’t think he is much insurance at this point. With Gunnar and Ortiz and Jackson coming as well, I feel like he will be traded.
  20. Thanks Tony, I got this one right! One of the weirder things about this past season was how they treated Westburg like a huge addition when he came up but treated Ortiz like a scrub. Was happy he performed the way he did the rest of the year.
  21. Thanks for doing these Tony, really helps put some perspective on our system. To me, Bradfield meeting his potential is an opportunity for us to truly maximize our lineup potential. That guy getting on base in front of Adley/Gunnar/Heston/Mayo just seems potentially great to me. Question about your terminology: 1st division starter means starter on a playoff team, starter on a top half of league team?
  22. I think this is a good discussion point. All the discussion of off season moves, team success, etc. really has been with the assumption that these two guys are TOR guys for us. If you take a second and envision them not being that, the outlook for the team is very different. With that being said, I agree with @Frobby that these guys will be who we expect them to be.
  23. I guess it is better that he said this as opposed to not saying it. But that is about it for impact.
  24. I wonder if the #1 prospect in baseball has ever been traded? This is for pure entertainment purposes because the Os would never do this, but I wonder if other teams in our position would see that the emergence of Gunnar as a legit SS stud alpha would make them consider using Jackson as trade bait for someone that would offer the moon for him. The Os would still be in good shape with infield depth (and high end depth), and it would certainly allow them to get a young stud pitcher. Again, I know it’s not happening, but I don’t think that it would be the craziest thing ever.
