  1. Frobby: can you explain the framing metrics you mentioned for Chirnos. I was shocked to read they are poor. Do you have a link for this info? Do they track at minor league level?
  2. Elias made a point in his last interview to say they like Westburg & Henderson alternating at SS/3b at every level they played so my guess is you will see that at the major league level to start. Urias is much better at 2b.
  3. Good post. I am higher on Mateo’s potential however. Off-season hitting instruction? Cuban players always take longer to blossom. No way in the world do I not cover Mateo in the off-season.
  4. Agree 110%. Spot on. After this series, so many more deserving players at Norfolk (Bannon, my bff Guterriez and of course Westburg/Henderson).
  5. Unbelievable. They can’t dare criticize anything. He should have moved up last week (if what Frobby says is true). Only other thing I can think of is he knows someone in the area? I dunno. Bonkers. They promoted Cowser & Norby for much less.
  6. 40 years without a WS will do that for some

  8. Ha. That would be great but Elias enjoys the tank too much I am afraid. Hope I am wrong.
  9. Not saying he has much value but if I were a rebuilding club, I’d def take a flyer as a 2nd/ third piece.
  10. Agree. Consistency is very important after the pitch tipping fiasco.
  11. Hall is not ready. But your point is good however, like I mentioned in post above, you are going to lose some guys anyways in the off-season to the rule 5, so why not use that capital now?
  12. Yeah, if he doesn’t go heavy on pitching in this year’s draft, we should be concerned.
  13. Forgot about him honestly. He was a third rounder I think. I wonder if he has a successful comeback this year where he would fill into our top prospects?
  14. There literally is a 25 page thread asking if we should take Johnson over Jones? Listen, not in the mood for games.
  15. I suggested the same with Wildcard a month ago. You can buy and sell successfully but has Elias proved he can do either successfully? Most on here will poo-poo going for the wildcard. Frankly, I don’t care, most would argue if the sky is blue. I think they should keep Mancini, see what the offers are for Santander, Lyles, Tate & Lopez and use your top farm system to acquire some salary dumps, particularly SPs. No way do I trade Batista. Our top ranked guys at 30-40 (which some will need to be protected for rule 5)can net you more than top 15 guys from other farm systems given our overall farm system ranking. Posters on here love to use the straw man and say, no way am I trading Hall or Gunnar. Of course not, but if you don’t trade some of these guys closer to 25-40 you are going to lose them anyways. I think even someone like Nevin still has some value if packaged with other prospects. Prove your scouting abilities Elias. Trade the guys you think have shortcomings before their value goes to zero.
  16. I think those wanting Hall to be recalled haven’t watched him & Rodriquez at Norfolk. Rodriquez in a different hemisphere. Hall, as Elias stated, needs to work on walk totals and consistency. He might be able to be a great setup guy right now but I doubt the Os wanna start there with him.
  17. Harvey replaces Lyles. I don’t like it, but that clearly seems to be the link.
  18. Wikipedia: 2005, Sig Mejdal was recruited to do sabermetrics for the St. Louis Cardinals' new analytics department.[12] He took 22 months of data from college baseball games and ran it through an algorithm to determine the likely performance and stats baseball players would achieve.[13] According to Sports Illustrated, "[o]ver the next seven seasons the Cardinals would draft more players who became big leaguers than any other organization."[4] He was promoted to senior quantitative analyst in 2008[14] and director of amateur draft analysis in January 2011.[15][16] Mejdal created a formula to predict the risk of injury to baseball players[17] and contributed a section on injury probability to The Bill James Handbook.[18] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sig_Mejdal
  19. When you wait until the 14th? Round to draft a pitcher, you tend to have a lack of pitching in the org.
  20. 100% You mean the great Johnson that struggles to make an accurate throw from the right side of SS and whose size is a concern that even Ben brought it up last night. If the Orioles select him 1:1 it would be an epic fail but hey, Elias needs to save money for more tan suits:)
