  1. The only Rule 5 selections I have supported are: Jason Garcia (high upside, didn't work, oh well) , Santander (high upside, worked like a charm) and Russel Martin (high upside, sucks he just got hurt again, like him a lot). Wells looks good to me. His strikeouts last night were impressive. There were a LOT of high upside guys we passed on this last Rule 5 which disappointed me. I get they have to stick but when you are trying to lose that strategy makes no sense to me. They trade away anyone of value, so who cares? Get the talent in the org. I truly am puzzled by their approach with selecting Rule 5 guys under Elias. I didn't agree with Dan and Buck on their picks, but I understood what they were going after at least. I am just happy we selected Santander, he was the number one guy I wanted that year.
  2. Agreed 100% Rio was fun to watch with the glove but long overdue move here. He was given a longer shot than my ex wife:)
  3. How much longer do we have to tolerate Mr. Garceau? I am sure he is a nice guy and all but my goodness, just awful. Awful, awful, awful! I wonder if he is even watching the game at times. Outs wrong, base runners wrong, inning wrong and of course, mispronouncing everyone's name. WRRRRIO RUUUREEEZ! I still would gladly take him over Jim "Homer on Steroids" Hunter (who also I am sure is a very nice man), but please. Put in Kevin Brown, dude is great. I actually enjoy the games when he is announcing. If not, put in Rob Long. My two favorites by far are Kevin Brown and Jim Palmer. On a side note: was anyone watching when Kevin Brown and Ben McDonald were doing play by play and Ben McDonald didn't know what an acronym is? Sigh.
  4. I love Wildcard’s posts & analysis, thank you!
  5. Catcher question: how is Cumberland’s defense behind the dish? I know he can hit.
  6. This is awesome, thank you! I really hope Martin can hit, great glove at SS!
  7. I just want the best player available. That’s all I ask.
  8. Don’t fix what isn’t broken. Strongly dislike this decision.
  9. I like Urias, but you gotta hit. How much longer does “Wee-o Rrrreez” get, Scott Garceau wants to know:)
  10. Amen. I am fully on board with Showalter’s proposal.
  11. I am still amazed some of these retread & easily replaceable relievers were protected over Zach Pop who has looked really good in his last several outings with the Marlins.
  12. Isn’t this thread about potential moves? On your point, couldn’t disagree more. It does matter. The games between key opponents should be more evenly spread over the season for the fair evaluation & integrity of the sport. If you disagree with that, which you likely do, it’s just boring & annoying watching the same opponents over and over as a fan.
  13. At what point do you stop trading valuable players? Means is likely our best pitcher since Mussina.
  14. Yeah because it sanctifies the deep respect for winning baseball the Orioles have had these past 3 years? Please, spare me.
  15. Don’t get me started on Yaz…likely much different situation but he’s hitting at Norfolk now and it would be great to see him this year in an Orioles uniform (as long as it doesn’t cost us anyone pivotal, like Armstrong or Laskins?, on the 40 man).
  16. Not now of course but I want to see him in an Orioles uniform this year! Who’s with me?
  17. For me (and just my opinion from some guy on a message board) it was just not a smart pick. Elias is great but that was not a great pick there, I am sorry. And as a fan, when your enduring year after year of a crap product to get a high pick…don’t get cute, just take the BPA and due your due diligence on the complete player, not just analytics. When he took him, I had flashbacks to Joe Jordan and that is not a compliment.
  18. I am quite familiar with your posts and I know you love a good fight. I am not interested in a fight. This is a message board on the internet, I posted my thoughts. Regarding your referenced article, do you believe then the Orioles got a deep understanding of what makes him tick & overall background from that single zoom call? I guess you do.
  19. I believe he can rehab in the minors for as long as 30 days. My guess is that is used as long as needed, so likely no time soon.
  20. I didn’t want my first post to be negative but got something to get off my chest. I love what Elias has done with rebuilding and player development in particular. We actually have faith in developing players now. What a tremendous change and sign of hope. I also equally don’t like how blindly people support him (or anyone for that matter but I digress). He can make mistakes too. Just ask Yaz. Regarding Kjerstad: I have a few friends that were scouts for MLB for various clubs in the NL so I am always intrigued by the draft. I was simply irate when we skipped on Lacy/Martin this past year. And yes, I fully understand the underslot strategy. But what jumps out to me is this: when Kjerstad was asked if he had any indication the Orioles were considering him prior to the phone call, he said no, he was surprised. Does this sound like the careful due diligence a major league club should be doing on their first round pick? Particularly when you tanked on purpose to get that pick? Quite frankly, that disturbs me. I truly hope they don’t go underslot again and go with BPA.
