Only 1 game left. Rotation in flux lol but my guess is Elias goes with worst options to solidify bad start/high pick.
Kremer belongs in AAA.
please DFA Akin.
Lowther 5th guy is my guess.
Means
Lyles
Zimmerman (home opener hopefully)
Wells piggy
Lowther (5th)

He’s good, at hanging cutters. A lot of loud contact off him today. This is the “lead dog” for the last three starter spots? Yikes!
All going as planned for a 110 loss season.
Also, Hunter Harvey had a dramatic start to his Nationals career.

The A’s have been to the playoffs in six of the last ten years, and were in the race until the final week last year. I’d say the fans ought to be pretty damned happy with how their team is run. Billy Beane doesn’t fool around. When he doesn’t think he has a playoff-caliber team he sells and reloads. It’s been very effective for him.
To be clear: my disgusting is the lack of trying not the As or Rays, clearly both are doing it right. The Rays should have a movie about them, just amazing what they have accomplished with a city that barely wants them.

I hope Odor isn't kept over a guy who could help the team in the future. Odor's upside seems to be a guy who could hit 25-30 HR w/ a sub .300 OBP and mediocre defense. He's basically Ruiz lite. I would rather have last year's Ruiz over Odor in fact. I know 700k is a big amount of money to the O's, but other teams make decisions like this every day. Please someone come up with a scenario where Odor is on the team in 2024 or is traded for someone of value.
What value/prospect are you going to get for Odor? Seriously. A 4a guy? The upside doesn’t rationalize keeping him but you know my thoughts on this GM.

Good call on Adley’s situation. I would be surprised if they give up on Akin just yet. The preparation, lack of, is maddening. However, there is hope still that he gets his act together and becomes a solid pen guy at least.
Nevin will hit, and he has gotten a lot of run this Spring. I would be shocked if they DFA Nevin. I would rather see Stewart go, honestly. But I don’t see it happening just yet.
There are not a lot of obvious DFA candidates on the roster, currently. Perhaps a trade or two is in the works? Nothing big, though. Just some minor deals to clear some space, maybe.
I think Owings is a good possibility, along with Bemboom or Taylor, to be added. Maybe add another waiver claim as well since they do have the first shot at them.
Trades? Can Elias do that? Wouldn’t know from this off-season.

Roch had the following note today:
Based on that, I would assumeMcKenna or Stewart but not both.
So Stewart is out - DFA or AAA?
Stewart still rehabbing so likely DL.

Disgusting. Professional sports should have a way to force a sale (see Dan Snyder), these cities and fan bases deserve better.

Miguel Castro headed to the Evil Empire! https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2022/04/mets-trade-miguel-castro-to-yankees-for-joely-rodriguez.html

And we need McKenna to hit!
-
Martin 2 for 2 today, batting .500 in the spring!

That's well thought out and fair but Odor isn't much of a hitter to begin with. He might be able to pop a homer every so often but that's about it. He should be a backup, nothing more.
Also even if he gets hot. What’s he really going to bring back in a trade really?

I have zero confidence this team will try to compete until Angelos passes so not setting myself for more endless disappointment.
cavaet: love Wildcard threads, keep up the great analysis/thoughts

Makes sense. Lacks upside but if healthy eats innings.
Yep. Eats innings, that’s it. Still a huge overpay and head scratcher but it is what it is.

I don't think that's quite accurate. But still not a good look.

So do you agree?
Love reading posters analysis on the roster. Thank you Sir. I am pulling for Martin and hope Akin is cut from the 40 man. Don’t like his past behavior and his anti-vax stance be an issue for Blue Jays games, cut him and move on. Strongly dislike him.
For backup catcher, Notthingham has most upside and can give you a bat off the bench, I like that pick.
On the fence about Stewart. If he makes the team, my guess is this is his last chance with the Os.
Odor has had a bad spring but small sample size and new org, I am inclined to give him a lot of slack.

The guy accused of selling opioids??? Seriously????

I would like to see Martin at AAA getting 200 AB and hitting 300/368/439/807 the way he did at AAA. Then lets talk.
Question is: will they keep Odor

I am too. For one, it means likely no DJ Stewart. For two, it means likely no Odor. And three, he can play a lot of positions and pinch run. And he's a good guy to root for and has had a hot spring.
Thanks! Corn just upset because Martin slept with his wife.

I am rooting for Martin to make the team.

Have not seen Perez yet. 98 sounds nice and worth a shot but his resume isn't good.
I am very high on Baker. I see him as a sleeper closer candidate. No idea why the BJ let him go.
Stupid question: how did we acquire Baker?
-
Matteo was a great waiver claim imo, same with Pedro.

I am over Akin and Kremer being on an major league roster.
This, definitely Akin needs to go. Anti-vax too (shocking I know…)…so issue with Jays games, I’d rather have the 40 man spot, cya! Bye bye!

28 man opening day roster - so who's on it?

I wouldn’t rule out Elias keeping both Akin and Kremer in rotation to start season to ensure a slow start/tank.
